Not had many last minute jobs recently, making the most of time off, saying that my class 69 job tomorrow is cancelled so I’ve got the Stafford to stockport ‘can you just’ again tonight

Bet the passengers didn't get much kip with that on the front!

Already have been woken up by the shunting at Waverley!

Took a Mk3 sleeper to Fort William back in 1989 which would have had 37/4 on the front and don’t recall any sleep issues over the normal.  Mind you, I was doing a sleeper weekly at that point so was used to all the noises.

Perhaps as well it wasn't from the bottom of the inc;line.

I was thinking the same, probably wouldn’t have made it up, weighed about 1800 ton and I’d have only been able to do 5mph in the worksite!

There's a bridge you can knock up with all those offcuts lurking in the spares bin.

Of course, you'd likely have some comments if exhibiting a hybrid structure like that.....

Some of those Class 70’s are starting to  ‘Clag’ a bit as they’re getting older

66012 looks odd with regular font numbers.

I think there's a few now. 66012/156/025/244/054/088/093/050 and 67002 at least

they were claggy from new, it’s some sort of engine self clean function, bit like clearing the DPF on a diesel car

The Helvetica style numbers started being applied to repaints in summer 2022. No idea why it's changed, but I preferred the previous style.

The original Class 70s didn't clag.  That's progress for you 😄

IIRC they had a propensity to self combust. That's worse than a bit of clag....
