RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted May 3, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 3, 2023 Can you just….. got a call asking me to work a stone train from Stafford to stockport as it was diverted via Stoke and the driver didn’t sign it, so a quick taxi to Stafford where the train pulled in as I arrived 66797 Into stockport where the other driver took over hire car home from there, nice easy last minute job for once
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted May 3, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 3, 2023 If all the "can you justs" were removed from your work pattern, I suspect that GBRF would only run about half their services.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted May 3, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) Not had many last minute jobs recently, making the most of time off, saying that my class 69 job tomorrow is cancelled so I’ve got the Stafford to stockport ‘can you just’ again tonight Edited May 3, 2023 by big jim

rogerzilla
Do Freightliner still use D1645, or is it a kind of gate guardian? I wouldn't have thought a very old 47 would be dependable or powerful enough for their usual work.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted May 4, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 4, 2023 I think it’s mainly used for road learning or lighter trains such as moving 197 barrier wagons or maintenance moves etc
gz3xzf
Hopefully D1645 will be heading south next week as she is featuring in the Swanage Railway Diesel Gala between 12-14 May.

Already have been woken up by the shunting at Waverley! Took a Mk3 sleeper to Fort William back in 1989 which would have had 37/4 on the front and don’t recall any sleep issues over the normal. Mind you, I was doing a sleeper weekly at that point so was used to all the noises. Paul.
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted May 6, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 6, 2023 (edited) Supposed to be in tonight on a possession at top of the lickey incline but got asked to do the toton tripper instead Sun trying to poke through! Line of DB locos My train was just a colas 66, I asked if I could just take the colas loco as the return trip was a DB loco which I could have driven back but they said to drag it with our loco! Into toton Freshly painted 66 Then what really annoyed me was it turned out there wasn’t actually a DB loco to move back so I had to go back light loco to bescot, had they let me just take the colas loco to bescot I’d have been done (there was also a van at toton that needed to get back to bescot as a matter of urgency so I could have done that!) Thankfully I was allowed to run early so got back 3 hours early, no photos at bescot as I rushed off for a train home!
