Hello Jaz,

In regard to painting very very small objects I find brushes like these are good, I do have smaller versions - Anything around 0.2 - 0.4 is pretty good  :paint:

I use all sorts including humbrol 000 and downey /0....you keep yours a LOT cleaner .....

Ok well I have been working on the High Road.....

This is where I started cleaning up the road

med_gallery_17883_2760_470719.jpgrmweb2569kalboro17

and a sneak preview of where I am now....however there is 17 pictures before we get to THAT point.....LOL

It was while tidying this bit....that I thought t was a bout time I sorted the white lines

med_gallery_17883_2760_251037.jpgrmweb2570kalboro18

and the road edge....because in this picture the road edge goes into the grass....in reality that rarely happens

and even tho the fence helps...the road is just missing that extra touch.....

med_gallery_17883_2760_20409.jpgrmweb2571kalboro19

so with the help of a white ruler, some white paint and some dirty water (so the white was not to white) and a fine 000 brush...I painted in the white lines.....I googled lay bus for reference in order to size the lines, and had to touch back up with black grey and brown. But this was soon the result

med_gallery_17883_2760_396364.jpgrmweb2583kalboro22

now i needed the right light to get the colours to show well, then I sat down to tidy the still wet road and take some pictures...there is still a little fluff on the road

but until it is fully dry i cannot risk brushing it off....

if it wasn't for the tunnels giving the game away.....

the land looks almost flat rather than a road raised a hove the tracks

med_gallery_17883_2760_8665.jpgrmweb2584kalboro23

some cheeky devil dumped some bin bags...and a bunny is checking them out

at least there is no road kill today...although the post van avoiding the bus might yet hit something

the drying weathering gives some authenticity...overnight rain drying out

med_gallery_17883_2760_355207.jpgrmweb2586kalboro25

the bunny (well actually he's a hare)

I still need to add a give way sign for vehicles pulling out

and a Parking sign to advise vehicles they can pull in

the edge of the road the other side of the white line got some brown and black.....

If he sits there for long   ..............

the bunny (well actually he's a hare)

....................    he will be "Hare today and gone tomorrow."     ................    Indicating that it is a bit of a "Hair-brained" creature   ...............

I bet that van going by, like that. must have been a "Hair-raising" experience for the animal   ...............

...................   If he is quick he could just Hare across the road to get to the nice new grass there   ..............     :locomotive:  :locomotive:  :locomotive:

I hope not because then I will probably have to model some road kill......

I carefully chose model cares that have plastic inserts for lights....as they look more realistic

med_gallery_17883_2760_168557.jpgrmweb2588kalboro27

and angle the camera so it is not obvious that the driving seat is empty

and having them just out of focus...allows your brain to fill the details

med_gallery_17883_2760_435825.jpgrmweb2589kalboro28

and a gain the small mistakes have been left or adjusted as no road is perfect

and the road edges look more realistic now, a touch of black gives some great depth

the High Road and the railway tracks....no sign of a loco

med_gallery_17883_2760_287334.jpgrmweb2509kalboro29

add a nice class66 GBRF ....could be driven by marcus37 in the sidings waiting for a repair

med_gallery_17883_2760_387962.jpgrmweb2591kalboro30

bring the traffic forward

med_gallery_17883_2760_586449.jpgrmweb2592kalboro31

and a replacement loco driven perhaps by his friend Big Jim to go do the job Marcus was down for before he had mechanical problems

and a cocky wave as he passes.....leaving Marcus stuck.....maybe another class66 will be drafted into pull him to a repair shed

I was thinking......

I did the cats and dogs and owners .........

I did the graffiti.............

There was the clowns...............

......ooooh I forgot Thebritfarmer did say......the characters needed homes........

homes......well in Goathland .....there is these for starters....

well there is the Bed and Breakfast.....that might suit JCL.....

med_gallery_17883_3001_131616.jpg

there is the police house.....and a lock up cell.....some might say that would suit Julian.....but I think I would probably be in there first......for some peace and quiet LOL

med_gallery_17883_3001_525684.jpg

med_gallery_17883_3001_171946.jpg

a nice georgian near the Heartbeat policehouse

med_gallery_17883_3001_633559.jpg

theres the house often used for Heartbeats police station...the front..

med_gallery_17883_3001_540727.jpg

and the back.......

med_gallery_17883_3001_8695.jpg

theres a nice pub.....but I think we all know who lives there.....

med_gallery_17883_3001_225177.jpg

theres a farm house.....well our home was a farm house.....but there is a building that is very similar to when we first bought the place before the granny annexe was added.....so I should get that out....a nice white bungalow.....which leaves the farm house up for grabs.

med_gallery_17883_3001_390108.jpg

the mechanics workshop...scripps garage...not a home but a place of work

med_gallery_17883_3001_219115.jpg

the other Pub, the Birch Inn....a real pub in a village not far from Goathland

Port Lynn has some nice houses

a pair of cottages

med_gallery_17883_2796_1223493.jpg

and a mother pair

med_gallery_17883_2796_325756.jpg

Brass0four might like a flat above an old Fire House

med_gallery_17883_2796_1245450.jpg

theres a flat above a shop

med_gallery_17883_2796_332172.jpg

in fact there are several shops with flats above...but not really salubrious....

med_gallery_17883_2796_14553.jpg

med_gallery_17883_2796_246624.jpg

there are other shops....but we really need des res (desirable residences.) so perhaps Hogsmeade might be helpful

I.m not sure that the cells will be available, unfortunately   ..........

Very good, I like it. Sounds good to me. I'll put me feet up and Jim can go off to do some work.LOL.

..............   as I had been looking for a nice, warm, dry, quiet place to put a decent size layout  ....    and what with crime figures being down and the replacement of local bobbies with area cars     .........            ............   a small confession about misuse of police facilities may be in order   .....    :O   ..

No wonder rail transport is expensive   ...............   We have a serviceability problem with a loco [ok - it happens]  ............   so we drag another in to replace it   ........

Apparently    ..............

........  Very good, I like it. Sounds good to me. I'll put me feet up and Jim can go off to do some work.LOL.

with an extra Driver, whilst the first one loafs off somewhere   .........      :jester:  :jester:

PS - Ok I know the 2 who get a mention wouldn't give up a good drive without a protest   .....   :locomotive:  :locomotive:

I.ve been making road signs this morning for the lay-by. And I plan to colour some meow moo cows. This time I thought I might show what I started off with, and how I recoloured them.
