When Tidal Sidings were a 'steel sector hub' - wagons which would previously had no business being there, would appear from time to time.

.

ASW did however 'hire in' a number of internationally registered wagons about this time - I may have details somewhere.

ASW used S-Fins & Habfis wagons to transport mesh rod in coil to the Drulingen area . Discharging at a  dedicated sidings for French mesh manufacturer Sotralentz

Haven't got half as many 37 shots as I have 47s, 50s, Westerns etc but here goes for starters... ;)

37 215 on the Glos & Warks line...

37 142 at Bodmin General...

Topping out on the Lickey, rear end view taken 1981, looks like the rear one is 280 or 286 with small black numbers just visible below the headcode panel...

37 411 top 'n' tailed with 37 425 departs Banbury, 16/2/07...

Am liking the Bankers Rugd! A few more snaps. Last one at Kings Norton shows 37 rescuing a HST failure. Bankwers occasionally used as 'Thunderbirds' if loco failed near Lickey.

Presumably on 'Great train robbery' filming duties.

I know the vast majority of people would have no idea about the inaccuracies on display here, but surely theres no excuse for the lion being upside down

Fort William

37191 and 37026

That brings back an OT memory.

On the West Highlander railtour - can't remember which one, but it was around the time when the 37/0's were getting their "Loch" nameplates.

We're on the platform at FW, lining up shots of our traction for the trip home. My mate has his Zenith EM on my tripod. He's about to take a pic when just behind him, a 37 roars into the platform on a service train. It makes him jump and in the process, he knocks over the tripod in the direction of the oncoming train.

My first thought is "my tripod!" as it bounces towards the plaftorm edge. His thought is "my camera!". Luckily, it doesn't fall over the edge.

Only afterwards did we really consider the implications of it falling in front of the oncoming train. I wonder what would've won? The Zenith EM or the 37?

For those that don't know, a Zenith EM was Russian engineering at it's heavy best!

The tripod was unharmed, the camera had a bent lens surround, but still worked. The platform had a hole in it!

Cheers,

Mick

Yes, I had a Zenith in the 1970s. It was built like a tank, but it produced some decent results at times.

I have a strange fondness for its chunkiness, despite replacing it with an Olympus OM1, which felt as light as a feather in comparison.

My former stead appears to have some rather strange looking additions to the tail lights there.

And 37075,  for me in much happier times!
