Love this. 28/07/86 was my 13th birthday, and about a mile and a half from where this photo was taken, up on Firthview Road I would soon wake up to find a Hornby Class 47 (BR blue 47568) as a present from my parents. Happy days.

I just remember Seagulls at 04:45 the sun was just coming up and the Seagulls seemed to be going crazy..

Other moves from the day were

04:55 INVERNESS - ABERDEEN 1A42

37262 ABERDEEN to INVERNESS

07:35 ABERDEEN - INVERNESS1H25

47454 INVERNESS to PERTH

11:00 INVERNESS - CARSTAIRS 1C84

Happy Days

I had a holiday in North Wales during Summer 1993 and to my surprise 37407 was in charge of a Crewe-Holyhead train which I joined at Bangor. However, it was in Mainline colours by then, presumably after it's short stint at Inverness although I must confess I'd stopped keeping track of locos after the Super Sprinters arrived. Could your photo be from a few years earlier? Having had a quick rake it would appear it went to Immingham for a short spell, so perhaps Crewe borrowed it for the passenger turn depicted?

The photo of 37407 is taken pre summer 1989 when 37407 was painted into Mainline livery during overhaul at Glasgow Works.

It was a regular loco on the Marches from late January 1989 when it was allocated to Cardiff Canton along with 37408 for Provincial duties. Also coming south were 37411 (Laira), 37414 (Laira), 37422 (Canton freight) and 37425 (Canton freight).

Here is DRS 37667 dragging DR73936 Colas Rail which had failed at Holmes Chapel due to brake failure today 26-02-2015.

I forgot to mention that it was crawling at 5mph all the way from Holmes Chapel to Crewe which is 8 miles and 34 chains according to RTT!
