Photographer unknown : 6751 and 6962 at Bethnal Green on 12th March 1971... 'Get Carter' was released in British cinemas around that time, filming on 'The Persuaders' had just finished, Ted Heath was Prime Minister and the Rolling Stones were in the top ten with 'Brown Sugar'...

I enjoyed watching the gala on Railcam the sound of these locos was fantastic and seeing the refurbished set of coaches added to the pleasure ,I regularily watch the trains on this line as they have to work hard.

I really love living near the KWVR, the shape of the valley means the sound carries nicely. When the 37's open-up leaving Ingrow, it can rattle the windows sometimes. I love lying in bed on weekend nights when they're running the dining trains, you can hear the steam locos working hard up the climb through Damems and Oakworth, and up to midnight you can hear the loco shunting the coaching stock around Oxenhope. Reminds me of my dad telling me about listening to steam trains running near his house in the Midlands in the early 60's. Nice to be able to do it in 2023 :)

Great picture! There can’t have been many spilt headcode tractors that got their noses under Paddington’s train shed.
