Class 37 Photos...

Saw not one, not two but 7 Class 37s whilst passing Loram at Derby on the Midland Venturer railtour yesterday!

I also saw 37/6s 37611 Denise Wetton, 37800 and a unidentified Colas 37.

On 8th December 2023, one of the few trains along the Huddersfield line, Rail Operations Group 37601 'Perseus' with 331005 in tow, working as 5Q17, Allerton Depot to Neville Hill T&RSMD.

This is one of the planned swaps across the Pennines of 331/0 three-car units heading east, in exchange for 331/1 four-car units heading west.  Previous recent unit swaps have been routed via Skipton.

Through the gloom and drizzle at Deighton on 18th December 2023, Rail Operations Group 37510 'Orion' with 331107 in tow working as 5Q36, Neville Hill T&RSMD to Allerton Depot, unit transfer.

Following the completion of this years schedule of Rail Head Treatment Trains, a convoy of Direct Rail Services locomotives pass through Deighton on 21st December 2023, working 0Z05 from York Thrall Europa to Crewe Coal Sidings.

The consist comprised; 37425 Concrete Bob, 37266 Victorious, 37716, 37419 Driver Tony Kay 1974-2019 and 66425 Nigel J Kirchstein 1957-2021.

A shot from the “lost” five strips of 126 instamatic black and white negatives from my week long 1973 Western Region Railrover holiday in July 1973. Two class 37’s and a row of class 08’s stabled at Radyr, South Wales, 8th July 1973. My records state that there were five class 37’s stabled at Radyr that day so the two seen here are from 6927/36/71/78/98, the leading class 08 is 3434.

There's a rare colour photo in the Feb '24 edition of Backtrack showing D6936 (green FYE) at Fort William shed in 1968 where it was on trials a full 10 to 12 years before the 37s started to make the West Highland Line their own. I've only ever seen 1 or maybe 2 photos of this event before.
