Here's a couple of interesting vehicles spotted this week, captured on the phone:

The Wolseley was parked at work; it's in very good condition but not concours, apparently it's the owner's daily driver (which is how such cars should be).

The Dutton (Sierra?  Ironic as they were based on the Escort) was at Kempton today.  Haven't see one for years.

There was a well publicised legal battle over the use of the name Sierra. Dutton won their case against a Ford injunction to rename their kit. When Ford unvailed their new jelly mould at the NEC guess who had the adjacent stand.....

Beautiful. Mainly because it wasn't designed on a computer by accountants. :D

And that’s why most of the “colourful stuff” no longer exists……and the stuff that does still exist makes us drool over the pictures just like when we were 10 years old :D

Not sure if all that make sense as I am just finishing a bottle of red I opened an hour ago after spending the afternoon trying to work out how to wire a speaker up to a sound chip that has no speaker connections, and none on the Loco chassis board either……

What really finished off attractive, individualistic styling on everything except the really elite car marques was the increasing requirement for crash-worthiness. It's also to blame for small cars no longer being small.

No accounting for all recent Rolls Royces being beaten senseless with the ugly stick, though....

Very true, add to that the design parameters set by being front drive and a hatchback as a "world car" and that's what you get.

As for the Rolls, at least they've been consistent  Ever since the original Shadow, I've thought of them as a big uninspiring box.

I'd forgotten about the Rivolta, a car that Bristol or AC should have made.

When everyone at school was going mad over the Lamborghini Countach, me being awkward, wanted a 68 or 69 Grifo, at least I would be able to rebuild the engine and transmission in our humble corrugated iron shed.

Drink another bottle and try again. It will probably make sense.

It did, well a bit of help from Richard at Road and Rails pointing to the fact that the sparsely populated Loco board actually does have one spare socket which is for a speaker helped a lot as well….:)

The Mistral often looks even better in the metal than it does in photographs too. Some of the design cues on those '50s and '60s Masers have been carried through to the QPV of 2003 to 2012, particularly around the C-pillars where the shape of the windows in the rear doors echoes the rear quarterlights of the Mistral and some of the coachbuilt GTs based on the  5000GTschassis.... an unusual case of Pininfarina paying homage to Frua....!

(Incidentally, the man in the b&w Mistral shot above is Omer Orsi, who's father Adolfo bought the company from the Maserati brothers way back in 1937).

Rolls-Royce used to have a sense of humour.

I think that featured in an episode of  "Chasing Classic Cars". Built for an Indian Maharaja, some say it is a Rolls Royce, while others claim it is not. A Google search turns up a variety of various histories for it.
