Ohmisterporter
Welsh Highland Railway Garratt 138 at Caernarfon station. I think this could almost be a model railway scene, viewed from slightly above with a nicely painted fireman standing next to it.

Jon020
One from last weekend at the CVR... on the N7's last weekend of operation. Image levels adjusted in Lightroom and then played around to create the B&W image in Topaz that I just downloaded a free trial version of. Comments welcomed Jon
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted June 29, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2014 Good luck with Topaz. It's a useful piece of software but certainly needs some care in use, particularly some of the presets which I find a little bit too intense and give an 'over-processed' end result. Did you download just the B&W piece or the full set? For B&W conversions I've found Silver-Efx Pro pretty good. At the time I got it it was developed by Nik Software, but they've since been acquired by Google and I don't believe, despite their assurances at the time of the acquisition, they've done any subsequent development. Jon020
Hi Russ, thanks... the trial covered all 12 (?) plugins but I don't see myself trying all of them and I'm yet to be convinced about its effects but I've a month to find out haven't I ;-) Silver-Efx is probably the other one I've heard of to be honest and results do look nice - so it;d be nice to try that sometime if, as you suggest, I can find it. I'll try this one first. Thanks Jon

Frappington Jct
That green livery does sit well on the 9F doesn't it. Not so sure about the nameplate though - looks a bit odd to me in that colour - should have been done in the same style as Evening Stars... Andy_197011
The nameplate did look very plastic and out of place, needs to be cast to look right.

Andy M
Had a meeting with an 'Old Friend' today at the Severn Valley. I found it hard to believe that the last time I travelled behind this locomotive was 33 years ago between Doncaster and King's Cross on an Up 'Hull Executive'. Sometimes the passage of time scares the living daylights out of you! She seems to be wearing better than me though! Andy.
