RMweb Gold rodent279 Posted August 3, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 3, 2017 Can't have been more than a year old, but looking beautifully scruffy, 56038 stands outside Cardiff Canton TMD, in August 1980. BR(S)
Thought this screenshot from railcam.uk of the DCR Class 56 at Watford this morning turned out quite well. 11.13 Wembley to Leicester LIP move. Been quite a few of these moves recently, especially with a 56 and 2 x RDG 47s. Edited December 23, 2017 by BR(S)

Owd Bob
A few fading prints from my collection. Merehead open day 1989? and two from Warrington. Ince Moss Wigan, March 1999, the HGV driver took a wrong turn thinking he was going into the springs branch depot but ended up crossing the WCML over a bridge that should'nt really have taken this much weight according to the sign! He was'nt allowed to get back over, and the loco was stuck and left there for several days from memory. Edited January 5, 2018 by Owd Bob
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted March 8, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2018 Not a combination that I've seen before on the Preston Docks - Lindsey Oil Refinery bitumen tanks. Colas 56302 leads 60096 at Heaton Lodge East Junction on 8th March 2018 with 6E32, 08.55 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery empty bitumen tanks.
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted April 3, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2018 It seems lately as though Colas 56s, either solo or double-headed, have become the favoured traction rather than the more usual Class 60s on the Lindsey Oil Refinery - Preston bitumen tanks. At least perhaps while the loadings are lighter than usual? 56078+56113 on 6E32, 08.55 Colas Ribble Rail to Lindsey Oil Refinery, the returning empty load, at Horbury, Wakefield on 3rd April 2018.
Wayne 37901
I think the shorter loads are just wagons returning to traffic at Lindsey after repair? Cheers

Great pic. Winning is my favouite location on the Blyth & Tyne. Hasn't changed much today. The signal box and semaphores are still there but overgrown bushes obstruct the view preventing pics from that exact location.
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted April 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 26, 2018 Narrowly missed being bowled by that 150 Chief! C6T. I've had much closer ! Actually it was a more interesting 150 than usual - 150101 which is one of the recent imports to Northern from First Great Western and is currently in a de-branded FGW livery.
Jamiel
I was quite surprised to see how many 56's are still around, or at least how many were hiding, or perhaps more accurately rusting at the back of Leicester Station.A bit of a collage photo. I will try and get some better ones sometime. 56106 doesn't look like it will be going on the main line any time soon.Jamie Edited June 17, 2018 by Jamiel
Nick G
I was quite surprised to see how many 56's are still around, or at least how many were hiding, or perhaps more accurately rusting at the back of Leicester Station. GBRf have bought most of them GB Railfreight purchases class 56s to provide extra capacity - GB Railfreight (GBRf) can today announce that it is again expanding its fleet of locomotives as a result of continued growth in the services that it runs. GBRf is pleased to confirm that it has purchased 16 class 56 locomotives from UK Rail Leasing (UKRL), along with a number of spares and materials. There is a mixture of stored, serviceable and non-running donor locomotives which GBRf will be able to put to a variety of uses as the needs of the company warrant. In the first instance, some of these locomotives will be moved from Leicester to be stored at various locations pending a decision on their future re-engineering, while others may be returned to service if required. At this time GBRf is not able to confirm any projected re-engineering as this is still subject to final contract.
