20073 and 20141 entering Washwood Heath on 07/09/78 (my photo)

Interesting photo, 20073 ex-tablet catcher fitted loco with the deeper side windows, working with a green 20141, albeit with one blue engine room door, pulling a hopper that is loaded with coal but stencilled with the stylised 'Stone' logo. And you've got to love that dumpy looking signal, obviously that short for sighting through the bridge on the right.....

Their cant have been that many blue type 1s with the number on the body instead of the cab.

I have found the following, but the number placement is still wrong. It may be that initially some of the tablet catcher fitted locos were adorned like the first, pre-TOPS 8100, then the two TOPS numbered ones that came up were 20032 and 20081

The original alludes to 20041 in the comments, but that didn't crop up. The tablet catcher area appears to have been plated in the image, and the arrows of indecision have been moved across, but the numbers moved upwards as well. Strange, but then there is a prototype for everything.....

All great to see, thanks.

but it does look like the arrows are on the cab.

numbers in line with the top of the engine room doors.
