runs as required
I reckon it must be your mum with her amazing hand-eye bowling green co-ordination that's doing the soldering. Please do give her my regards. dh

David Todd
Well, bit of a quandary, there is no Loch Tat, in Layout Topics, pages..........so, will post them here. Seen at the Canterbury Exhibition Jan. 2015 Last time I seen this layout, was at our Folkestone show 2013. They were running a Eurostar, they had just purchased. David Todd
Hi dt, Nice kit .... How did you make the folds for the roof location, they look quite long? Lofty held the brass etched sides, I placed metal set square on the table, held the pressure, while he folded. Did look for some bending/folding tools at the Canterbury show, but to know avail. Two steel strips clamped together with wing nuts would have done. The length of fold was 13.7.mm.
jcredfer
Thanks dt ..... Lofty held the brass etched sides, I placed metal set square on the table, held the pressure, while he folded. It was the width which struck me as rather small and tricky I suppose a suitably sharp jawed vice, or one with some sharp edged planed wood inserted might work [which I haven't got] - if there is only one of you? ... Ok, J, The width of the fold is 2.mm. but there is a little help at hand. The focus is on the folded edge,on the right.. The help I mentioned, is that there is 3 punched out rectangle's,along the fold line. In the lower 2 pics, I have just laid the roof on across the fold's.

runs as required
Aw! Now yer've just spoilt it al Bonny Lad - given awa all yer trade secrets. Why, bending that stuff must be a piece of p... Was it the same routine for those fourgon 'gable ends' (as we Ribers call them in the trade)? Would be a bit more difficult with a tumble home on the body sides. What about an old SE&C 'birdcage' brake as your next etch project? ....and while we are doing requests: A NAFF video of you soldering up etches please. dh

runs as required
So why is it called a "fourgon" ? (takes up smug teacher's stance, finger carefully stuck in the dictionary hidden behind his back) Ans: http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/fourgon quickly follow up with OT anecdote: (brand new) wife stuck her brand new Antler suitcase in the Night Sleeper fourgon at Gare du Nord on our return from honeymoon in August 1961, then promptly followed up by wrestling a snatch thief to the ground who was attempting to nick our passports and tickets out of her open handbag! I've been scared of wor lass ever since! dh

David Todd
That's NOT a job you want to do too often.....are you going to attack the blue strip at the same time....so as to not undo the work at a later date? No, thats what has stopped me doing most things, around the layout, how I was to make them upright......... The blue stripes were redone 6 weeks ago,on this platform 1, no wish to look at them again, thanks, But, now I straightened the uprights on Platform 2/3, last week, I do have to redo the blue stripes , but feel more confident with that.
