David Todd
More top work here David!! Thanks for your post Neil, Hope you all had a good weekend, it's Monday modelling night, already, more of Loftysr brass Wagon Lits coach tonight. Last Monday, he got to fitting out, the under coach bit's. and one bogey assembled and fitted. Platform 2/3 has been removed, it is fitted on small dowels' as is platform 1. This is because, both platforms' sit across b/board joins, they need to be removed, when the layout is (sold),when am dead and gone. Each building has been "inset", not glued, for removal. From, Priory Tunnel, through DP, to the scissors crossing, this section covers' 3. 4'x 2' boards', the scissors' is pinned down only, not rail joined, as it cross's a b/board join . As I progress the track work, that has been laid for about 4. year's now, I will be cutting the track that, crosses the other b/board joins. Other items' that have been on the back burner are, The 14. foot real photo b/scene, from Harbour Tunnel south, around the 10.chain curve to Marine/Western Dock's station. Have the very good model of Shakespeare Tunnel, built by good friend and mentor, runs as required, (retired,BR. Arkytecht) laser cut at Yorkmodelmaking. Some pics' HS1,arriving @ DP, platform 1 by David Todd 2012, on Flickr by David Todd 2012, on Flickr 3rd rail, potted painted, ready for gluing, I have set these rail's "down", below collector shoe level, I may, continue to use my CMX. track cleaning wagon, I found it's better to propel it, than haul it. lmsforever
The tunnel mouths look excellent and the choice of Enya is good one she is a very relaxing singer and I like to listen when on a long journey ,glad I don't have to put third rail on my layout! runs as required
1 I do like those 'down at eye level' pics you've started posting of the model - increasingly difficult to tell Stork from butter in your comparisons. 2 Good grief! That Shredded Wheat box Shakey tunnel mouth still xtant? I thought you'd commissioned quality modellers to replace it yonks ago. Really looking forward to the cliffs bit ( even if it's just wall paper pasted on an insulation panel for a while, deputising for the real McCoy. distressed placky. Dhig Thanks for post dh, yes your Shakey model twin tunnel, is lasting well, into this century, just had to stick down a couple of reverse brick courses, and re point. Progress over the last 3 day's, is not adanced,as it should have been, other commitments',have interuppted the flow of work, started last Sunday. So, to date, all the 3rd rail has been measured up, pots assembled, now all glued to rails' and fully painted today. Some pic's. The 3rd rail,is in it's relevant sleeper position, ready to glue, each 3rd rail section, will be glued together by David Todd 2012, on Flickr by David Todd 2012, on Flickr I have started making the 3rd rail Protection Boards, this evening. there are not many at DP. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr by David Todd 2012, on Flickr Where I will fit the first one. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr ipad by David Todd 2012, on Flickr ipad by David Todd 2012, on Flickr
David Todd
DP, 3rd rail protection boards, There are none on the through track of platforms 1 & 2, nor 3. None, in siding 1, it has a carriage cleaning platform. Siding's 2 & 3, you can see, the protection board's are clearly defined. The entry,to the siding's, has a couple, as is has a walkway for staff only, to access the siding area. My, token trial protection board so far.
lmsforever
At least you only have to walk down the road to check out anything on D/Priory just think if you lived up north ,a lot of train fares to check out details ,boards look good. Thanks for post Lms. Yes, it is only a few minutes walk away,to DP, but the drawback is, Network Rail, don't tell when anything is going to happen there, have to check it up on their website! For instance, bumped into a guard I know, says, rumour has it, Priory is possessed on 3/4 October, Maybe replacing the scissors crossing. On checking N/R website, Priory is closed on those dates, so, will not be going by train,to the Folkestone Club Model Railway Exhibition, start walking, Friday evening. So, if it is true, I will be taking nighttime photos, of the replacement scissors. Might have to purchase, a model N/R 12.Ton crane, from James Makin's buddy, if there is one on site at Priory that night. I was born ,up north, just outside Newcastle upon Tyne, Wallsend, in fact, but, closer to Percy Main. 21 year's of it Scissors Crossing @ DP. by David Todd 2012, on Flickr Edited September 26, 2015 by David Todd
David Todd
Hope you are enjoying, your weekend. Earlier, I had an email from my friend, Andy Howard, the one who snap's real traction. He had been up to Tonbridge Yard West, today. Will let him explain. Afternoon 8 RHTT trainsets now at Tonbridge ready for the dreaded leaves to start falling. 20901 and 905 already attached to one set - guess they will be route refreshing soon. The RHTT paths are already in plus a few one offs but none used yet. Another 6 MPVs set up for the season in the NR depot - hopefully they will be packed off to Horsham and we get to keep all the loco hauled sets in Kent. Couple of shots attached. Cheers Andy. David Todd
Another, email received, last night, EveningJust seen your vid of 20901 at DP - looks and sounds great. I knew what that was before it came in to view. Was hoping they were going to start them up and take them for a spin at Tonbridge today (there was a path for a trip to Faversham in the system) but no such luck. The 20s weren't in a good position for pics but have attached a couple.20901 is a fairly unchanged ex-disc headcode standard model - hence Bachmann producing it. 20905 has had several mods, including headcode boxes removed, new windows and extended range fuel tanks placed ahead of the cab. Parts are available to convert a Baccy model (Shawplan Extreme Etchings I think?) if you want the pair. Another development on the real railway - Colas have taken over test train duties. So far using their class 37s but hiring in GB 73s locally for now. Its only a matter of time before we get their own locos down here though - they already run engineers trains from Hoo/Tonbridge using 66/70s. Might even get a 60 with a lot of luck. runs as required
Instead getting in a sweat trying to keep up with the Real World (should I or should I not tear-up my nearly weathered scissors?) why not just jump ahead and model what DP could be Tomorrow. Its the sort of bull$?!£ that comes second nature to architects... dhig

David Todd
What make of sound you got in your class 20 david?? To be honest, have not looked, bought it as an ex-demo model. But this is what "we " could do with, on a couple of sound function buttons'. "sounds recorded from a real 'Chopper', as well as several versions of the FEA-F Rail Head Treatment Train with spraying and sound effects,"
