David Todd
Very interesting to see Julian's pair of posts: The first picture of the layout from the corner of the room really surprised me for revealing how short the DP side is relative to the Marine Yard side. And the photograph of the Outdoor Machinery Superintendant on the bridge 'shooting' the guys on the job was instructive. I'm surprised dt has not yet been 'accidentally' run over on purpose for the intensity of his spying supervision. dhig Ah, there you are, dhig not seen you in awhile. Here, is a rough measurement of DP

runs as required
Yet another dhig post - with a silly suggestion. If you ever get round to making that chalk cliff backdrop to the Marine Yard hacked out of a styrene board, it will make a really dark claustrophobic hell-hole of the DP section to work in afterwards. Have you thought of a roller blind (or a curtain) that is a photo of the cliffs as a kind of theatrical backdrop you can raise and lower? My daughter and son in law who include stage design in their drama teaching might do it with lighting in front of and behind a stretched gauze screen that carries an impressionistic image of the cliff face on it. [end of silly suggestions...I'll get my coat dhig] 1. Soon, I will be having a word, with John @ IDBackscenes. About the 15.ft x 15.in. Back scene, I photo stitched . This will be from the South portal of Harbour Tunnel, running around the 10.chain curve to your model Facade of Dover Marine/Western Docks station. If you expand the first pic.(which Julian took) you will find, that your twin tunnel model of Shakey Tunnel, Is missing. This, along with the Marine station facade, travelled to Wallsal, last Saturday, when, Derek and Jakub drove down for one day attending our Folkestone Exh. So both items are under consideration to be, Laser cut,@ Lcut Creative. 2. Ah, the impatience of you, it's only been a 4 year wait,so far, but so has Richard (Johnson) waited, blame him, He was the one,who told me, "Take you time, don't rush". Was talking to Loftysr, the other Monday night, during the build of the Wagon Lits, sleeper coach, that I may start a section of said "cliffs" in 4/5 weeks time. You idea is not as far fetched as it sounds. The cliff section for the back scene would be 16/18.feet long, There is already lighting nail above the yard section,to the ceiling, consisting of 4 separate bars with 4 converted GU lamp ftgs, of 3.watt.leds,to each bar. When I trailed the Pir sections, for the yard and had sloped them, operating the DP section, seemed a bit tight and clostrifobic for Loftysr, but ok for me. Would be worth looking into the costing of your idea, dhig. To think, this all started, a few years ago, to play with a train set against one wall of the garage ! 3. OK third post in a row... runs as required
The above post was another where I wanted to click twice - but 'Informative/Useful' won by a short head. But 'Thanks' also for the responses to those 'all round the target' posts. 2 It occured to me later that you must get a lot of excercise for your back ducking under somewhere near the camera - so as to access DP in the extreme right Lekky corner. dhig Edited October 9, 2015 by runs as required
David Todd
A Couple of pics with the PIR in place,1 section has been removed,to shew, the narrowness of the operating well behind the yard back scene. Even though, I have control of the whole layout from an ESU command station, behind the PIR, I can still operate the layout from the front of the yard, with either from a clean version of a 1st edition ipad or the Esu wireless handheld controller (the latter works, but I do not rate it highly). A reminder for those, who do not know what we are on about and those who do. Sections of PIR mounted on screws, 1 section removed,to shew well and DP section. The foil will be removed from both sides and the front carved to represent the "cliffs". Am programmed to hike up the hill this morning at 0900, blue sky forecast, to get pics of renewed trackwork of last w/end. Andy H mailed me this morning. Britannia. Due in to Priory 09.57 then leaving empty 10.07 via Kearsney. Cheers Edited October 9, 2015 by David Todd

David Todd
Two not very good videos, was 300ft up a half a mile away No tripod, hand held with a long lense. Discharging, all passengers' for a 2 day stay in Dover. Returns on Sunday,to collect passengers. http://youtu.be/r79tDRfS3Fw departure, north to Canterbury, from platform 1. (empty). I let the video run, after it entered Priory Tunnel. I was hope to track it up the valley, with it;steam and smoke through the trees. But, I think it had been fitted with a 0. emission pcb from VW. recently. I hopefully, will be on the platform, for its return on Sunday. 11 10 15. http://youtu.be/IcF94Dhpd4M
David Todd
Hope you all, have a good weekend. I have decided to try and build my scenery as module's. Tentitive steps, some are just placed not glued. A build up of fine layers,is required,so am told. Some more sea foam trees were selected and soaked overnight,to take the twists out of The main trunks, then hung from a line, with weight attached. I don' t want them too straight though. Require some ivy and postice, to layer over the Rock and sides of the tunnel mouth. Floor leaf litter is due to arrive today. This is the view from the loop line platform 3. Looking to Harbour Tunnel. It is purely practice, more needed. Years ago in steam the right hand point, was used as a stub, for the station pilot. Nowadays, is used as a trap, using interlocking for platform 3. There is another trap, sited at the north end of platform 3. Viewed from platform 1.south Yesterday, atop of Western Heights. David Todd
Thanks for your postings, will get back to you all, later today. Some trees grew overnight. The ones I used are seafoam , soaked two nights ago, hung with weights, then, dipped in a mixture of 50/50 pva/water and a drop of washing up liquid. The are not yet glued on to the module, trunks may have to be painted, bark,as the deer are not that tall around these parts. Some pics of development.
