shanks522
Your conductor rail overlap looks too long, should be approx 9 sleepers (just checked a prototype pic), I can't remember the exact distance. Thanks Paul, I'l make some adjustments over the weekend. Graham.
shanks522
Looking good how come you had to remove the pcb from the 60 chassis? David Hi David, The roof of the 92 sits lower and was hitting the PCB so it was easier just to remove the whole thing. Graham.

shanks522
Hello all, More baseboard installed today, this is the opposite corner to the station and will house an engineers yard and possibly a loading area for VGA's and cargowaggons. I have a rough plan in my head but i'm going to have a play with some track and points to see what works best. Please excuse the N gauge layout perched above the station area. Thought i'd cut a letter box out to view trains on the return loop. cheers Graham.

shanks522
Hello all, Birthday this week and my parents very kindly bought me a Kernow/Bachmann sound fitted Thumper. Also been playing around in the yard, With the space available i can get the bay in the station then 5 sidings in the yard, i was going to have a headshunt running parallel to the main lines as far as the tunnel mouth but with a bit of re-jigging and some point surgery i am going to convert it to a branch line, When i've laid out some more track i'l post some pics to show what i'm on about. Once the layout is a bit tidier I'l start making some more video's with the Thumper and the Cromptons. cheers Graham.
shanks522
Hello all, Following on from yesterdays post i've been loosely placing track around to see what i can fit and where. The picture below shows roughly what i'm aiming for, From left to right we have the new very short headshunt, next is the old headshunt which will now become a branchline then the mainlines. I also hacked about an old double slip today to see if i can fit the trackwork in i would like, so far so good. cheers Graham.

shanks522
Hello all, Had a nice delivery of tree's yesterday thanks to Hornby's Black friday sale, Went to work on the layout tonight but got sidetracked and ended up hard wiring my Class 60 chassis which is going with a Lima bodied 92, All is working ok so now need to crack on with detailing the 92 body and changing the 60 underframe. Think i may start a workbench thread as i've got a few things in the pipeline to build Cheers Graham.
shanks522
Hello all, Nothing to exciting to report, I've started a Workbench thread so i don't fill the layout thread up with pictures of me destroying rolling stock. Here's the link if anyone wants a look, I'm starting with EPS barrier wagons and 37's, I'v also got a 4 car Networker and the Lima/Hornby 92 on the bench. Graham's 4mm Workbench Cheers Graham.
shanks522
I made an impulse purchase this week, Not a loco needed for the layout but i fancied trying out Hornby's new TTS system. She's only had a short run but seems quite good. cheers Graham.
shanks522
Hello all, Hope everyone had a pleasant christmas, I got quite spoilt on the Railway front this year gaining two more loco's, a few wagons, Decoders some books and a bus. Having done all the family dinners etc I've spent the last couple of days working on the small scenic section above the retaining walls, It was going to be built in situ but as there are some electrics i may need to get to i made it removable, Nothing to complicated, a thin slice of hardwood cut to size then polystyrene glued and shaped, next came some filler then paint and glue followed by scatter material, finally i used some static grass and planted a few trees. Few snaps of whats been going on. First new Loco is another RFD 47, Going to need these two for the heavy channel tunnel freights. Next one is 47834 in Intercity, She'l be used on cross country MK'2s when they arrive although i'm sure she might see some use on the Pullmans. Cheers Graham.
Jintyman
Nice work on the scenery on top of the retaining wall. Just that little bit has made such a difference. Nice Duffs, I have a 365 with elephant trunk, but I want to change it into a plain blue, red stripe or grey if I can find an example!!! I do like my 47's. That cut-n-shut point work is looking sweet too, it's bits like that that take it away from the normal and give it an edge. Jinty ;-) Edited December 29, 2014 by Jintyman
shanks522
Thanks Jinty, Think both the RFD 47's are going to need sound, should be great roaring through station with a long train behind. Graham.

shanks522
Hello all, Little bit of work today fitting the pointwork accessing the yard along with the short headshunt, this will double up as the programming track so most of the day has been spent wiring. I also accidentally bought another 60 from ebay, She has Howes sound fitted and also cab lighting so it would have been rude not to. cheers Graham.

shanks522
Hello all, I'm taking a break from trackwork and electrics so decided to make a start on the depot building. I'm using Stewarts Lane as rough guide and if i'm feeling confident the depot will have working doors. Cheers Graham.
