Class 47 photos

As an alternative to scanning slides, I got myself an old style slide copier. Basically you attach it to your camera, stick a slide in the carrier, then take a photo of the slide. It was designed for film cameras, but can equally be attached to a DSLR. I found a box of slides, and took photos of a couple of them using the slide copier. This one may be of interest. I think it was taken at Bristol Temple Meads.

These photos i took are very underexposed but I thought I would put it on anyway. They are of class 47s partially  painted in Crewe works in 1978. I thought you were supposed to do the light colours first!

On 12 July 2015 GBRF ran a charity train from Ipswich - Eastleigh, traversing various branches in the Anglian area (big clap for GBRF for doing so)

Diss

47812 (and 66759) on 1Z51, 12:27, Harwich Town - Norwich (13:47) - The Second Serve

Bit of a story behind this.

I got to Diss in plenty of time, the train was running more or less right time and the Southbound passenger (booked 10 minutes before the special so should have been well clear) had left Norwich on time but ...

Something happened with the passenger and it had to do an emergency stop just outside Diss, the driver got out after it had stopped in the platforms and was discussing it with the guard but I didn't catch the reason. The special was also losing time so I thought the passenger would still be well clear but the discussion went on, and on, and on (I know it's their job, I'm not having a go) and I was starting to sweat. The driver got in the cab and the special appeared in the distance "Fudge!" I thought, "I'm not going to get this" but the driver of the 90 appeared to be trying to get clear, I'm sure he opened up, wide, 0-60 in very quick time saw the 90 well clear as the special passed (the DVT at the back of the 90s train is visible to the left in the distance) - so thanks to that driver.

66759 is here
