D1733 (AKA 47853 I believe?) in the sidings at Derby station in 2004 or thereabouts, when Virgin XC repainted a number of their 47s in heritage liveries as a farewell gesture before being replaced by Voyagers.

On 15th September 2006 47709 'Dionysos' interferes with my steam photography at the south end of Derby station.

In summer 2004 Virgin West Coast were using Class 47s to haul their Mk3 sets between Crewe and Holyhead, presumably while the Class 57s were being equipped to haul the Pendolinos until the Voyagers were delivered.  47851 calls at Bangor on 24th August 2004.

More recently, 47746's driver takes care to make full use of every inch of Platform 1 at Huddersfield as he calls with a charter on 7th May 2014.

Cheers,

Will

47137 Leagrave 1980 by Brian Daniels

47137 Leagrave 28-7-80

There are still two sidings at Leagrave but they're only used for stabling tampers etc these days.

(Another cracking shot from Brian's archive!)

47203 & 31441 at Saltley on 06/08/88 (my photo)

You've also managed to capture a nice side view of a debranded ESSO TTA from the 56xxx range which will be a future modelling conversion for me in N gauge using a Farish model as a starting point (twin ladders to be replaced by a single end ladder, etc, as seen on the WHL.)

Lovely photo of a much missed era for me (in more ways than one), thanks for posting.

Regards,

Ian.

47725 "The Railway Mission" at Heamies Farm on 29/12/00 (my photo)

I also meant to comment on this photo when posted which really took my eye with both the contrast between the red of the locomotive and stock with the whiteness of the snow / heavy frost but also the sense of power and speed of the train swirling up the snow with the stillness and freshness of the cold, still frosted grass and grey steel steelwork of the overhead line equipment .... a real photo to stir the senses,  thanks for posting.

Regards,

Ian.

47405 and 55009 "Alycidon" at London Kings Cross on 08/09/78 (my photo)

Great picture especially with the young lad wheeling his Raleigh Chopper bike along the platform.
