Guest bri.s
Thanks, Ken & Brian. The Pennines and weathered sandstone walls do go well together. Landscape is Oughtibridge/Middlewood, just outside Sheffield. Dave And a great backscene .I agree with the stonework and pennine hills . Doughnut
A bit more progress this week. Platforms finally smoothed out, painted and lined (Plus some manhole lids applied). Low relief station building, finished, inserted and wired for light. Station name signs put in and a start made to extending my Bachmann concrete footbridge, so that it spans the 5 running lines between the Penbury platforms. (MDF cut painted & weathered again, a la retaining walls, to get the concrete effect) Will be installing lights on it too. Getting there now and won't be long before the OHLE can be installed. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted March 28, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Nice work on the walls and platforms, but it looks like your glass fronted building is too close to the platform edge. Quote from Railway Group Standards. 6.2 Location of buildings and structures on platforms 6.2.1 Buildings and structures, including supports to station roofs, platform canopies and any associated barriers that protect structures from impact, shall not unduly restrict the movement of passengers. 6.2.2 New buildings and structures, and alterations to existing buildings and structures, shall be located to provide the following minimum distances to the platform edge: a) 3000 mm where the permissible or enhanced permissible speed on the line adjacent to the platform exceeds 100 mph (165 km/h) B) 2500 mm at other platforms HTH. Doughnut
Yes Mick ...You got me...27mm, which equates to 2052mm..I know...and I hate it...but I'm snookered by the back wall! How about a derrogation?? Dave Edited March 29, 2014 by Doughnut

How about a derrogation?? Dave Hi Dave, If anything, it looks odd being so close - can you reduce the depth of the glass section to widen the gap to the platform? Cheers, Mick
Doughnut
Yes Mick, I'm going to look into narrowing the glass section, as I'm not comfortable with it either. Might be able to get 10mm off it. Dave
Doughnut
Adjustments completed. Looks a bit better and passengers with ample waistlines no longer need to worry about getting some of it shaved off by a pasing HST. Overbridge extension completed; just need to install the working lights on it, after removing the Bachmann dummy lights. yorkie_pudd
Totally agree with the above comments and gives a great rural station feel that could do with a spring clean & repaint.
Doughnut
This weeks progress. Let there be light! Also lifts to the subway to allow disabled access to Platform 2. Could have just converted the steps on the bridge to a ramp, I suppose, but I like the look of the steps too much. Just started the canopy too, which owes a lot to the Dover Priory layout on here (good design) , as well as various online pics.
