enginelane
With bookings now into 2019 then layout is going to have a life longer than I think any one in the team thought it might have so thoughts are turning to a mid life upgrade. After the Wakefield Show will look critically at the layout and see what needs to be upgraded, replaced or added afresh. The Helijan crane is a wonderful piece of kit but sadly all functions will no longer work so could be ready for replacement. Thoughts includeca cross over in the fiddleyard to add reverse running of some trains, scrapyard ground cover and additional work to the motorway gantry and landscaping beneath the bridge. If you have seen a Troutons out and about what would you suggest we spend some time and money on?
enginelane
Lost the modelling mojo at the moment due to illness and other things so going to spend a couple of hours just adding one or two bits to the inspection saloon ready for the Wakefield Show 18/19/20 th Nov. Will not get much time to operate at the home show due to Exhibition duties but will be good to see it having it a run round.
enginelane
Lick of paint here and there just to take away the overall Brown of the mouldings. Main addition being some pieces of plasticard to create the steps at the end of the bogies. Existing steps require a coat of paint to pick them out, add pipes and replace handrails will complete the slight upgrade. Will require only a light weathering. enginelane
Does it have lighting? I have not modelled the on off switch yet but yes the copper bits suggest it does have lighting. Will check today
enginelane
3 figures added with orange vests of course, pipes added, somewhere in the kitchen is the missing vac pipe that pinged off into somewhere! Very light dusting of mig black smoke to take off the sheen on the roof and ready to run at Wakefield

Removed a/c
Thanks for the info, I don't remember it being announced with lighting but the bogies were throwing me off.
enginelane
This afternoon the motorway gantry height will reduced to a more realistic scale height. Information received from one N Bridges at the Wigan show proving to be invaluable
enginelane
Spent the extra hour this morning going through the vehicles used on Troutons ready for its appearance at Wakefield 19/19/20 th November. Wigan Show seems to have been extra hard on the vehicles or perhaps I had not noticed before little bits like wing mirrors disappearing. Vehicles will feature as part of the mid life upgrade after Wakefield .
enginelane
Took advantage when viewing The Worlds End by purchasing more " youths" from Mr Goss at the Leeds Show this morning. His layout will appearing at Wakefield 2017 and figures will feature as part of the upgrade after Wakefield 2016.

enginelane
I'm sure someone was meant to weather that ?? Can't think who I can. Little Chris who has turned into tall Chris producing bespoke signage and once fitted I will get it over to the weathering person!
enginelane
Chris dropped off the motorway signs, very professional pack so best construct the framework ready for other Chris to complete the spraying next week and in place for the Wakefield Show that is less than two weeks away

enginelane
Early morning cats so up and test fit of Chris's sign. The little blob on the sign is some blu tac! Certainly look the part. Now onto making the reverse sign
enginelane
Both lanes now completed and just the speed cameras to fit before handing over to Chris for spraying and weathering them onto Troutons and Wakefield Show 18/19/20 th November and yes of course it's a plug for the show!
enginelane
Speed cameras added and that is that from me. Should do some work this evening but when a leaked report indicates the CEO was paid £82000 for 15 weeks work I think he will be getting the hours I am paid for. Retirement is booked for July 2017.
enginelane
Strange seeing Troutons at an exhibition and due to other duties not operating over the weekend. Plus side was seeing how many other club members did manage to run trains over the weekend and see from the viewing side its operation. Notes made, purchases bought and from Jan onwards upgrades will start to appear. 3 years since the layout made its debut at Wakefield, come along way since but with bookings until 2020 still some miles to travel! enginelane
One aspect of the scrap yard that does get a lot of comments are that the forklift trucks in that area would not be up to the job as too small and under powered. Took opportunity of purchasing a more meaty version at the recent Wakefield Show and will form a little modelling project to modify into a full can version and weathering project. The model can not only be seen on Troutons but also will making an appearance on Chris's own layout which will debut at the Wakefield Show 2017- 17/18/19 th Nov Thornes Park.
