Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s from Teesside, at Thornaby, Cargo Fleet and British Steel Redcar station. The first photo’ at Thornaby, with 156469, on a service to Middlesborough, on the 14th April, 1993, being an excellent composition, and it’s interesting to see the line of locomotives in various conditions, in the near background.

The photo’s of the Midland between Leeds and Skipton, with one at Embsay Junction, are a fascinating set. The last photo’ at Embsay Junction, with BR Class 4, 75041, on a freight from Grassington to Skipton, in May, 1966, being a delightful photo’ and once again showing the neglect of steam in those final years.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Good evening, David. That’s a superb set of photo’s at Toton fom 1964, 1977 and 1979, and Liverpool Riverside station, in May, 1969, along with Whitehouse, looking west, towards Middlesbrough, on the 31st July, 1986. The first photo’, at Toton, of LNER B1, 61196, in June, 1964, is a beautiful portrait shot the locomotive at rest.

The photo’ of Whitehouse, is an excellent shot, and the line on the left has a bad join between the point and the straight track, which must have caused sudden lurches as trains passed over it.

The black and white photo’s, on the WCML, around Rugby, are truly excellent. JVol2008, of Class 5, 44523, on a down express passenger, in c1954, is a most delightful photo’ of the Black Five and train. A quite typical LMR scene from the 1950’s.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

In reply a post a little way above, the history of Riverside Station is covered (with photos) in

“Gateway to the West: A History of Riverside Station, Liverpool: MD & HB - LNWR” (L&NWRS Premier Portfolio) by Colin Reed, published 1992.

Contact the Sales Officer via sales@lnwrs.org.uk to see if he can find you a copy.

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of Beamish Museum on the 2nd September, 2011, taken by the pit and village. DSC_5262, of Hudswell Clarke 1369, Manchester Ship Canal No, 67, is a superb portrait shot of the locomotive.

The photo’s of Manchester Piccadilly in 1990 and Heaton Norris Junction in 1972, are an excellent set. The first photo’ at Manchester Piccadilly, of 90005, and DVT, about to leave for Euston, on the 3rd March, 1990, is a splendid photo’, and has captured the train perfectly.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s of Cattawade, Parkeston Quay and Harwich. C2778, at Parkeston Quay, with a container crane, on the 12th June, 1976, is a superb photo’ of such a crane which will be of use to modellers.

The photo’s of the Grantham to Nottingham line at Bottesford station and Bottesford West Junction, are an excellent selection. C5444, at Bottesford, with a Class 47, on a Parkeston Quay to Manchester service, in July, 1981, is a splendid three quarter shot of the train.

With warmest regards,

My first visit to Wales including the Talyllyn and Ffestiniog was a year later in August 1971 at the age of 17. I am now 69, doesn't time fly? But lots of great memories thanks to the railways of the UK and this thread helps bring them back. Many thanks @DaveF

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the Ffestiniog Railway in the early 1970’s, along with a photo’ of Portmadoc. J3067, at Penrhyndeudraeth, with Fairlie, Earl of Merioneth,in August, 1972, is a superb photo’ beautifully composed by your Dad.

The photo’s of the ECML north of Newcastle at Manors, Morpeth and Newham, are an excellent set. The last photo’ at Newham, with an unidentified Class 55, on a down express, in August, 1977, is truly stunning, as the Deltic approaches nearly head on.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

C3507 - 55009?

Not 9, Andrew. Lots of photographs of 9 show that it still had twin windscreen wipers and sandbox filler flaps, into 1978. I think that it might be 7 (which had neither). Actually, looking through the racehorses on "Napier Chronicles", 18 was in works in August 1977 and all of the others, bar 7, still had twin wipers (although some had had the sandbox fillers removed).
