RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 5, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 5, 2020 Last night I went to do some modelling but got distracted by driving trains, and not crashing them. The Perishables is due soon so platform 8 needs to be cleared. Platform 8 is used as it has the roadway where the road vans can park up and be loaded directly off the railway vans. Out on the mainline approaching Sheffield. (just ignore the vans that need repainting) The J50 is shifting the Hertford Quad out of platform 8. With good coordination between the signalman, driver, guard and shunter the train stops stops in teh right place to be signalled back into another platform. The loco is now propelling the train back into platform 2. The Ivatt tank that arrived with the Hertford set is shunted into the loco yard.
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 5, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 5, 2020 Another freight is also arriving at Sheffield Exchange, the coal train for the loco yard. Is there enough time for that to do its shunting before the perishables arrives. Please note real coal in the wagons. It arrives from the L&YR coal yard not too far away. it is signaled into platform 7 from there it is shunted back on to the Up GNR line so it can enter the loco yard. The full wagons are revrsed on to the coal line and the brake is coupled to the empties. The full and empties then are pulled on to the loco yard headshunt. The diesel loco then pushes its train on to the least occupied loco siding, the empties and brake are left there for a moment as the fulls are propelled on to the coal line.
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 5, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 5, 2020 The loco collects the empties and the brake, with a little more shunting back and forth it takes the train back to platform 7. It uncouples and proceeds to run round its train. The signalman has not been notified by the Doncaster Junction box that the Perishables is on its way so takes a gamble that the loco can clear platform 8 in time.
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 5, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 5, 2020 While waiting for the signal to clear so the diesel can take the empty wagons to the nearby marshaling yard for their onward journey back to the colliery the Perishables arrives. Into platform 8 where the road vans are waiting to take the goodies to the shops and markets. The diesel shunter is now ready to depart.

I have one of those Airfix Lions Tea vans, at least one Blue Circle cement and a couple of the English Eggs versions. They're completely fictional but so beautifully printed I can't bear to paint them in prototypical livery.... Plus, they are part of my childhood. 3

The two Lyons Tea vans have Parkside chassis under them, one with LMS 8 shoe fitted gear and one with Morton 4 shoe brakes. Should have been repainted years ago. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
I fear Mr Mortimore're Revenge has caught up with me. My Disney Diesel is now an ex-diesel. It Disney work on DC very well, and not at all on DCC. It is A Very Unwell Engine. Currently got her top off, and relegated to Depot Queen while I decide what to do with her. The middle third has shorter than standard compartments. The first-second composite has first class compartments bigger than standard . The second brake despite having standard second/third dimension compartments has a brake end that doesn't match any of the brake thirds. And on their wheels. 4 4

There is something very classy about everything Gresley ( o r. Was it his senior draughtsman ? ) did. I might have to see if I can source some Kirk kits myself. It looks like you made your own ends . Why did you not use the ends with the kits? Looks like you made your own floor sections as well rather than modifying the kits ?

Precision paints were selling just the sides of Kirk kits a couple of years ago at Warley. The roofs are left overs from my cut and shut Hornby Railroad Gresley coaches. The bogies were found in my coach odd and sods box, outer ones are ABS and the inner ones are Cavendish. RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 6, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 6, 2020 Back to the broken down Derby Bo-Bo over in the new diesel engines sidings. Well they have sent a young engineer who introduced himself a Sainty. Sadly there hasn't been any work done on the loco. He said he was just trying to cool himself down by opening his newly issued BR raincoat. The Police say that isn't what Mrs Jones at number 3 said she saw. A bail collection has been started so far we have tuppence ha'penny, three buttons, and some foreign coin. Steve the guard has asked for his penny back as he thought it was for a good cause. I would like to say thank you to the person who left the chocolate penny, it was very tasty.

RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted April 6, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 6, 2020 Returning to the stuck Type 2, well a very clever lawyer from Peterborough has be able to get young Sainty back to work. Which would be good news one would think. No.....he keeps walking around the loco, climbing back in it, going from one cab through the mysterious bit in the middle to the other and having a look under neath. All the time muttering he cannot find the missing "C". 1 1
