Jintyman
Once made I've painted and weathered it, again it won't be seen but at least I'll know it's there. And those arty low angle shots will all the more convincing!!!! Nice job Paul Jinty
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted July 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2016 A late start in work, well late for me 9 o'clock meant a 30 min walk with Daisie dog at five an hour in the gym and still had 30 minutes free so I thought I'd tackled the two inside walls. I've first give them a dusting of a light red rust followed by black working from top to bottom and the brown mix I've used on the ballast around the bottom working upwards. I've then added the odd moss green colour in patches working from the top downwards, it's all then been sealed again. The pics aren't the best as the green in real life doesn't stand out quite as much but thought they're better than nothing. The mortar is still looking far to clean in some area but still lots to do so not to bothered about that at the moment, hopefully more tonight. Cheers

RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted July 22, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) A late hour modelling and first up some colourful powders!! This was then sealed and then various amounts of dark earth and black where then added, I've then sealed this and then rubbed it down once again. A few pics of it all thrown together, this is just strategically placed using bottles to hold it in place, and yes it's fake beer!! Booooo I'm on a beer ban as the baby's due this weekend so Becks Blue it is. An a birds eye view to give an impression of the full size. I still think the mortar looks to clean in places and does it look ok?? So thoughts an comments good or bad would be appreciated. meurglys3
Looks good. Do you apply das straight from the pack? I tried it a while ago and couldn't get it to go where I wanted. Realistic brickwork is something I struggle with.
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted July 23, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2016 Looks good. Do you apply das straight from the pack? I tried it a while ago and couldn't get it to go where I wanted. Realistic brickwork is something I struggle with. Thanks meurglys3, I just break a small amount of das clay off straight from the pack then wet it slightly, this then produces a gunky paste which spreads easily over the brickwork. Hope that helps and feel free to ask anything else. Must admit I do struggle with brickwork myself and it takes ages for me to be happy with the results. RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted July 23, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 23, 2016 Looking REALLY good now. Are you using Slaters sheets? I might try this technique on a little lineside hut sometime soon Pete Thanks Pete it's much appreciated Yes I'm using Slaters sheets, I find them great, I've used Wills in the past and although they are very good they're just very difficult to cut due to their thickness, so since trying Slaters I don't use anything else, highly recommended. I used it for my hut to and they do a variety of brick/stone types. Cheers
