It's been a rather slow process but today finally seen a start to the refitting of point rodding, I'm not going to rush this but hopefully it'll be finished over the next week.

I've also used one of the ply boards of the original ELJ to finish this board off, I cut them to shape the other week just haven't had time to fit them.

The straightened stools and rodding.

And a couple of pics to show the newly fitted tops.

At least now, once the rodding is finished I can start on the road bridge, embankments and fitting ELJ's signal box.

Looking nice there Paul, I can imagine that in 4mm it's some what challenging to get right.

Jinty ;)

Thanks Jinty it can ware the patience some what haha but I'm just taking my time ;)

Managed to just fit an hour in and quite pleased with how it's going, two more compensation cranks have been added and the first section now has all five rods installed.

The newly fitted cranks just need greasing up now.

Another hour last night seen a bit of greasing up to cranks and a bit of tidying up of the stools.

There's the odd wonky piece if rodding but I can live with that.

Only about 30 minutes work last night but that seen the forward facing point lock fitted, couldn't really do much more as I'll have to make some more stools up.

Hi Paul,

Looking good. Very impressed with the detail on the point ridding there - very much an aspiration I have. I know this is EM and I'm in O, but what make of ridding, cranks and stools did you go with in the end?

Thanks Rich the rodding is 0.4mm square wire from Wizzard Models and the stools are from Brassmasters, I'm sure they will be far easier in 7mm as they can be a bit fiddly.

Thanks again for the kind comments.

Thanks Paul,

Will investigate both. Might have been fiddly and frustrating, but the final effect, especially when weathered is definitely worth it! Looks superb.

Hi Paul,

Nice detail with the rodding to the FPL, It's a nice touch when you can see where it goes, I agree with Phil, the grease looks so realistic.

As for the question above, regards 7mm rodding and cranks, Wizard models do lovely nickel silver flat bar and whitemetal stools in 7mm.

Keep it coming Paul, oh how far off is the due date by the way?

Jinty ;)

Thanks Jinty, I'll have to hurry up an re-wheel a couple of 08's so I can be let loose with my greasy skills ;)

The baby's due on 24th July so not long, I've got three days off next week so I've got to rooms to decorate, unfortunately one is my modelling room which is to became light pink :(

ELJ will be stored on top of my wardrobe for now an any modelling will have to be done in the kitchen, that'll @/(( the Mrs off!! :D , I really need a man cave.

A couple of pics from last nights efforts, I've now fitted all the rods leading from the signal box area to the appropriate cranks etc, next I just have the stools to fit for the two rods that will lead under the road bridge in the Bootle direction.

Full of admiration with the detail on this PAUL. Hoping I can replicate something similar on mine in the coming months! All the best for end of July too!

Thanks very much Rich :) I'd love to be cracking on with the next board and making track but just not possible at the moment so I'm just making the most of the time and trying to get as much little things done as possible. I must admit I do love adding the little things to the layout even if no one else notices it or can see it. Once this rodding is complete I'll add the rodding to the first catch point then it's the signal pulley wires :)

Thanks again

Nothing to show in the form of pics, but been spending each night doing the arduous task of making more stools :( nearly done thankfully.

Cheers

Painful :O

Superb work Paul, sorry  haven't been in lately and I've missed some cracking workmanship.
