micklner
HMRS Update. I recieved a response and a apology that ' the quality of their product was of not a high enough standard for myself". I recieved a refund a couple of days later of the Decal sheet price, but not the £4.00 postage charge ( another common growing practise amongst some retailers, a postage stamp £1.08 and a 20p flat normal envelope). I still am undecided if the reply, was/is being sarcastic or not?. Either way current HMRS LNER Lining sheets are of no further use to me for the future. Luckily I have managed to just have enough "normal standard " HMRS LNER lining sheets to finish the D49 , just numbering and nameplates to be done and varnishing in due course. Back to Black and Blue Locos in the future.

To me the addition of "for yourself" makes it sound like one of those non-apologies i.e. "I'm sorry if you feel offended" rather than "I'm sorry for the offence I caused". I suppose all you can do regarding the postage is complain again and request a refund and never buy their products again. It's galling when retailers and manufacturers just don't care.

To be frank, the repeated quality issues and also the long periods of non-availability of core items, like Sheet 14 covering BR 1948-68, means they've effectively destroyed their own product. A real shame but there it is. Unless someone else takes it on, say Wizard, the range IMHO is finished. John.
Battledown
I've had the same issue - not only are they out of register but, in my opinion, the white lining is not as fine as it once was. 2

Popular Post micklner
Last photos of the year. Oxford J27 lovely model at a bargain ebay price. Dave Bradwell Brass Safety Valve and Chimney added. Incorrect rivets on Smokebox removed. Cab interior repainted Red Fire irons to tender and real Coal. NIU Models 3D Prints of the ex NER Wooden Snowploughs x2 one finished so far. Model is 8/10 . Decals not used as totally wrong in spelling and sizes. I used HMRS Wagon lettering with a lot of cutting to make up the wording. Cab Roof needed grinding work for it to actually fit the body. Multiple " ridge" lines on the main Roof were easy enough to smooth and fill. I managed to break the corner off seperate front plough piece supplied as it is very brittle Resin on the finshed one. I have replaced the part on the second one now being painted with a Plastikard piece and Archers Rivets ,which are used on both front plough edges to represent the Nut attachments on the body. Parts on the rear of the Plough changed to more detailed etched items and Brass sprue added to represent support struts not in kit. JaymzHatstand
Some lovely work on the plough, a few ideas indeed for when I make a start on mine. Did you ever solve the bowed sides? Mine is splayed out somewhat on either side, as if it's had too much turkey! All the best for the festive season and the New Year Cheers J

RMweb Premium Chas Levin Posted April 25, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 25, 2023 Nice work Mick: are those real pieces of rusty metal (perhaps cut from metal cans?) or are the painted plastic?

Chas they are painted plastic sold by TMC as wagon loads for the TMC/Bachmann Bolster/Plate wagons from about 2 years ago. No idea if they still sell them . I bought the ones in the photos via ebay,
Popular Post micklner
Isinglass Models 3d print of a ex GNR Restaurant car . First time i have built one of these coaches . This has taken over a month to build , running on D&S Bogies , MJT underframe other than the Isinglass provided Gas Tanks. Lanarkshire Models Roof vents. Advertised as a easy build ? A lot of things to watch out for parts are very fragile, hence replacement parts used as listed above. I dropped mine onto the thick carpet and one end corner shattered !! One good thing is its built using superglue, so a easyish repair. Very hard to see any printing defects on the sides at this time. I recomend priming the outside of the sides before building. I did'nt and found numerous lumps and bumps and lines on the sides after priming, that were then a real pain to get rid off as everything is very bendy/fragile at that point as unsupported until the Roof is glued on. I am undecided if anymore will be built. Not helped by zero instructions with the kit, just a A4 print of the Isinglass Drawing is provided. The owner is very helpful providing a new roof, as the first one was slightly too short . Interior 20 1
John Tomlinson
I'm interested to see that you've built this in a different (and in my view better) way than designed. The two 3D coaches I've done have sides which clip and glue into the chassis at the bottom, and can't therefore be removed without serious damage. The roof then goes on at the end, and makes access very difficult if you subsequently say put a window in. If I ever do another it will be built as you have, and indeed as I usually do with other coaches, namely a shell of sides, ends and roof that is easily removable. I'm not an LNER modeller, but your teaking looks excellent. John. Edited June 27, 2023 by John Tomlinson typo 1 1

My knowledege of 3D printing is zero. I have only built the above Restaurant Car and a ex NER Inspection Car so far. Detail is ok but its all too fragile on both kits. I still at the moment prefer etched versions of similar models. 1
