retroman
Hello chaps Very little work has been done of late, I'm afraid I've just been playing trains. Here is the Heljan Traverser in action. Quite a temperamental bit of kit, but when it DOES work, it is tremendous.
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted February 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2014 Pity about all those noisy diseasels in the background, I couldn't hear the traverser whirring.... Rob
retroman
Could have been worse, the noise of rancid Kettles, but you won't see any of those on my layout.

RSLR
Your layout looks super AWESOME! I like your collection of BR blue diesels and the stock of the same era. The traverser is really cool and I like the TMD. All looks authentic. I look forward to the next update.Cheers, Reece

retroman
I have spent a few days going through a backlog of unmade kits. The first is the excellent FALLER overhead pipeline kit (ref #130487) which I have installed at Ely Bridge Steelworks. The next shows work under construction, a PECO Manyways office block now doubling as a pump house at MARSHFIELD depot. The pipelines and steps being leftovers from the aforementioned FALLER kit.
retroman
A few more pics of the overhead pipeline in situ. It's a great kit with loads of useful spare bits for industrial areas. The loco is 37207 William Cookworthy.
Removed a/c
Awesome another kits to add to the list! Do you have any of the other Walthers Steel kits or just the coke towers?
retroman
I'm quite tempted to go the whole hog and get the Blast Furnace, but the £120 price tag is rather rude!
Removed a/c
Yes it is a bit steep!! Great looking kit though. I will be adding the rolling mill, have to see about the furnace.

retroman
I've got the weathering bug again .... Before After Before After ... name plates awaited from ShawPlan .... Both dirty beasts at the Steel Works exchange sidings. My Hydraulic fleet on shed. Need a Maroon Warship and another Western.
retroman
I've had problems with jerky running on my Hornby 121 and 'Railroad' 40. Altering the CVs has helped resolve the issue.
retroman
More completed weathering projects. D827 KELLY now carries plates from EXTREME ETCHINGS. 45114 now looking decidedly work stained. Must have been seconded to GD for a while ..... Next up - Honby 121 DMB. It will be fitted with directional /interior lights and passengers. I've begun painting and added a driver, red buffer beam gives it a bit of character I think. retroman
More dirty Western Region filth on shed at MARSHFIELD. 121 DMB now complete, thought I would get a pic of it on shed before it is populated with 'normals'.

RMweb Premium Temeraire Posted March 31, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2014 121 DMB now complete Hi Dave, I see you found the lighting kits then? I need to get another myself for a 117.
RSLR
Hi Dave,Looks good, nice to see the grubby Blue diesels... puts mine to shame - all clean and fresh out the box!DMU looks interesting and the new lights really add to the effect. I did a similar thing to one of my units with the detailing but I really went to town on it, has pretty much everything you'd find on a real 121 apart from the lights. Cab interior both ends, destination blinds, replacement windows, wipers, passengers/driver, full interior detail, pipes, screw link couplings, lamp brackets, tail lamp on the rear, replacement handrails, steps and guard's door steps, MU fittings/jumper cables, yellow ends reworked etc etc list goes on. Good fun. I like yours better though.https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1392426_569200399795500_298383838_n.jpghttps://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1392097_569200346462172_1832919002_n.jpg Really want lights for mine now!Cheers, Reece
retroman
Thanks for the comments ... Reece: Ian (Exford Park) put me onto this guy for 121 lighting units. £20 gets you interior and directional lights. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Black-Cat-Technology/OO-Gauge-Loco-DMU-lighting-/_i.html?_fsub=992066017 HTH Dave
