The DC kits website says its a 2 car unit and two liveries are mentioned.

So unless they are going down the Kernow Hampshire unit route of producing a 2 car that could be expanded then that annoucement of two cars focusses the speculation down a bit.

Class 141?

A Yarkshire Nodder, ran in two liveries (well 3 if you include the early Barrow Blue and grey, I once saw the first 141 in blue whilst on test in Walsall of all places) and were an iconic part of the West and South Yorkshire scene for some years.  I could even be persuaded to buy one in verona green and buttermilk as I went on one in that livery from Leeds to Harrogate when new.

Presumably the motor assembly could be used from the 143-144 as well.

I couldn't find that... and yes, clearly I am sad enough to have gone and had a look.

Oh I hope you realise what you've done now- a huge can of worms has been opened.

"psssst, don't tell anyone I said so but I heard from a reliable source that Realtrack is making 2 car Pacers rebuilt with bogies."

Going by the thread on the class 143 and 144 Pacer units, we now know the forthcoming unit will be a 2-car Pacer mounted on bogies!    :jester:

Dear World: It was SRMan who started it all....

So, if that isn't a red herring...that appears to rule out a 142, 150, 155 and 156.

I'm still putting money on a 141!

It may not be a red herring, yet still be misleading. What if there are more than 2 liveries, but only two of them are in the initial release?

Over here in Australia, the South Australian Railways had their 'red hen' units, but I am unfamiliar with these 'red herring' ones!  :jester:   :jester:

only one problem with 141s is the lack of liveries carried

as 141,0s a couple carried Workington blue and white, rest WY Metro green and cream

as 141,1s all carried WYPTE red and cream stripes until withdrawl then one carried Serco grey and red, several are currently in Brown and cream (preserved) and several are still in a form of red and cream for use in Iran.

there are also external differences between 141,0s and 141,1s

Exactly! Class 156s have had multiple liveries down the years, Regional Railways, Central Trains, Scotrail and ONE Anglia to name a few others aside from Northern Rail.

BREXIT!!!!!!!!

This is playing havock with pricing of models, as daily, the pound drops.  Airports are now selling Euros for 98p (For one Euro) and thanks to Mr Trump the Dollar is not much better in percentage terms.

Sadly it looks like the days of a 2 Car DMU for £140.00 are long gone!!!!

airports have always given very poor deals and anyone stupid enough to leave it until the airport to get their foreign currency deserves all they get in my book.

Sterling has been falling since 2014 when it was realised that printing money (or quantitative easing as it is oh-so-nicely called) didn't work and instead we have diluted the worth of the currency.

Sterling shows a very similar pattern against the Yuan- and let us not get too bogged down in discussions of the Chinese currency manipulation and its artificially devalued rate.

What IS interesting- and people keep overlooking it- post 2007 crash Sterling was rising against the euro, which would indicate a strengthening position in Britain and a lack of confidence in Europe. Of course, that overlooks the failure of the Southern European currency failure (Greece, Portugal, Spain, possibly signs of Italy) which was being used by Berlin (or Brussels- very easy to confuse) to de-value the Euromark. Since those states slipped as far as they realistically could go- in other words to junk status- the artificial devaluation enjoyed by Germany no longer continued and their currency is finding its new value.

You are an incredibly talented model designer and I have incredibly high levels of respect for your business acumen, but as for economics... But fear not, as I understand it Warren Buffett cannot design Pacer railcars. Maybe we can have a socialist government and then collapse all currency to parity/junk.

Golgrafincham tree leaf for the next currency?

The above comment is an economic one and not a political one.
