Well, I've been tinkering with Mr Frank's latest products and lovely they are too. Unfortunately, I can never leave anything as manufactured.

Modified LP04 LNER/BR lamp mounted on a Hornby K1 smokebox door and BO38 RIV buffer prepared for springing.

Lamp on K1 Smokebox. Shame about Hornbys chronically poor interpretation and application of weathering.

BO38 assembled.

Finally a boring vid.

[unusual Disclaimer: I know Mr Franks of LMS models quite well & think the sun shines out of his orifice.]

I don't reckon much to the solebar you've fitted that buffer to.

Dave, I have tried logging onto the Lanarkshire Models web site and it appears corrupted. All I can see is a page of buffers. The "real" pages can just be seen behind the buffers but is unreadable! Anyone else having the same problem with the website? I have tried to access via both an IPad and a desktop PC.

Hi David, sorry but it seems fine with all our machines, what browser are you on? Have you tried it through the link here or through surfing?

FWIW the LMS website comes in fine with Safari but a bit of a mess with Firefox 47.0 using OSX 10.11.5.

To show what I mean by "a bit of a mess" I attach a screen shot from Firefox

Hi all, seems to be working fine on our Firefox and Chrome so I don't really want to start mucking about with settings. Had this problem a good while ago and it seemed to sort itself out. Hopefully the new up to date website package we are working on will help. Clicking on the photos should also take you to the indexes or relevant pages.

If you are having problems ordering please email and we'll be happy to help.

This problem occurs in Firefox if you increase the font size. This can be shown by pressing the Alt key to bring up the old menu. Click on View > Zoom > Zoom text only. Then hold down Ctrl and press the + key a few times. Pressing Ctrl and - a few times reduces the font size and it all looks ok.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hopefully out next week, North British loco buffer, used from about the turn of the 19th century till NB locos were withdrawn in the 60s, J35,J36,J37,N15,D30,D34, etc, etc.

LMS wagon buffer 1'6'' self contained with 18'' head, suitable for various bogie vehicles eg, LMS Bogie brakevans, LMS bogie hoppers, some bogie bolsters and the 12 wheel Trestrol we all had as kids from Tri-ang, a few people have been rebuilding these Trestrols by cutting and shutting two together to make the correct length so we'll now have the correct buffer for it.

And the smaller RIV buffer as fitted to some of the French type mineral wagons as running on BR.

Will post pictures of the castings next week.

How about some of these Dave?

post-508-0-02219800-1470322372.jpg

20" version was common on fitted vans and the 24" on Brake some brake vans.

Despite digging, I've never managed to find out who manufactured them?

I've always heard them described as 'BR Self-contained'- B013 looks very similar. I think they were based on a GWR design that had been used on clay tipplers and the 'Pole' 20t minerals.
