RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted November 15, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2009 The WFRM boys will be manning the S4 Society stand. Leander
Beast beat me to it. He will indeed be attending on the S4Soc stand along with: Society Stands Cumbrian Railways Association http://www.cumbrianrailwaysassociation.org.uk/ Great Western Society http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/ Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Society http://www.lyrs.org.uk/ Scalefour Society http://www.scalefour.org/ The 2mm Scale Association http://www.2mm.org.uk/ West Lancashire Light Railway http://www.westlancs.org/ New to the show this year is the Cumbrian Railways Association. With the West Lancashire Light Railway attending for the second year. We look forward to additionally welcoming back the East Lancs Railway stand in 2011 but space is a bit tight at the 2010 show. Most of the demos and society stands will most likely be in Hall 2, along with the Refreshments and Exhibitors' Catering, so they won't have far to go for a brew. The 'scale' societies (S4 & 2FS) will be adjacent to the layouts in those scales (Niddbeck Bridge and Western Road / Wheal Elizabeth respectively). grahame
..... in between spells of gassing Oh no, not gas! I'm looking forward to this show. I don't think I've ever been to Rochdale before. I presume it's another of those Norvern dark and dank satanic mill towns - so we're going to need some decent pub recommendations. Anyone? G.
Mucky Duck
I will seriously try to make this one. It's about time I visited my old stomping ground of the late '70s??¦ when my Oulder Hill school was in the town centre and the infamous Yates's Wine Lodge was still around ??“ strange that I can't even remember the names of any of the decent pubs! I would imagine too, that most of them old mills will have been pulled down by now.

Grahame I can thoroughly recommend the Cemetery Inn on Bury Road ( I kid you not). Its about 5 mins walk from the show (at the corner of Bury Rd and Sandy lane) and has a fair selection of real ales to choose from, all well kept. Leander
Bad news on New Years Eve was that Jonathan Clay (Transport Artist) won't be able to make the show because of family commitments. Jonathan's been exhibiting at Rochdale for a good few years now, maybe ever since the move into Oulder Hill Sports Centre so will be missed this year. As the halls were both 'a bit tight' for space, it looks as though we'll be moving the Gordon Coltas Photographic Trust into the Main Hall from the Gym to give a bit more room in there. I'm afraid the Exhibition Management team were a little over-enthusiastic with their booking policy so much so that we've had to cascade several projected layouts from 2010 into the 2011/2012 shows' line-ups. Who said that there was a shortage of quality exhibition layouts out there?
Leander
The plans of the Halls are now finalised and the Exhibition Guide is approaching completion. Less than three weeks to go now.
Leander
The Exhibition Guide is now finished apart from a trial print and then proof-reading. I just don't spot typos on the screen - occasionally see them on the printed page and infrequently on the printed page when it's my own work! We give (not sell) a Guide to each group of visitors coming into the show so that hopefully the costs of production will be covered by the admission charge and a small amount of revenue generated by adverts. It'll be a 12 pager this year (A5 size) and will include Hall Plans, together with trackplans of most of the layouts; as well as the usual layout descriptions and lists of trade, demonstration and society stands.
