RMweb Gold TomE Posted March 10, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2013 Even though a U would have suited my personal needs better, yay for the N Class! It's also nice to see new AirCon Mk.2s produced, with the added bonus of the DBSO too. Should keep the 'paint it yellow' brigade happy! And finally the 25 gets a re-tool! I suspect I know one or two people who'll be over the moon with that one.... Seems like like quite a balanced programme this time round, with some useful gap fillers. Tom. RMweb Gold TomE Posted March 10, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2013 Coreless motor...Interesting Simon That'll be the same coreless motor used in the WD, Std 5 and soon to be released 2MT. I suspect it is now the standard motor for all future steam releases, expect the J39 which appears to be using the same tender drive mechanism as the B1. Tom. Tom. I'm getting ideas already! Radio survey test set (1Q13) is all mk2, and could with a DBSO for the structure gauging train. That's just a start....It's great to see joined up thinking too. 47/7s and 87s, mk2s and DBSOs. Pannier and autotrailer. Well done to Bachmann, long may this continue! jo
bmthtrains - David
Some excellent new liveries for me in the line up - I wasn't expecting any new modern image items (there aren't that many left ot relase, surely?), but the network rail 57 and the DRS 37 with the flask and barrier wagon will make a lovely set. Some incredible steam releases here though, and the expansion into the 80s era with DBSOs and 47/7s is very interesting. I also see there is a lot of new weathered releases in N, another interesting move. All in all a good list that will surely please most and distress a few... Dorsetmike
I was somehow expecting an SR mogul, I've started to hack one! Ah well go for 6' drivers and make it a U or chenge the front end to a U1 or N1. Having seen the price and no sign of a delivery date, being as I'll be 79 in a coup,e of weeks maybe I won't wait! The bogie B is long overdue too! I see the N is listed as SR Olive, whereas other items are just SR green, does this mean horrible malachite which didn't last as long as olive! RMweb Premium Kris Posted March 10, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 10, 2013 The Castle is fantastic to see but the 64xx is unexpected but equally delightful. It will be good to see the Hawksworths but I am wondering how well the auto coaches will sell given that the Dapol model will have taken a lot of the market for this (unless the Bachmann ones are to a different dia) I can see why they are doing them given that they are doing the 64xx though. Seeing a N being announced is also great, not unexpected though.

Roy L S
A very comprehensive lineup and something for almost everything including some nice surprises! I had speculated a Castle might appear (not often I am proved correct!) and the Hawkesworth coaches may explain why the NGS changed their next RTR project from a Hawksworth Ful Brake to a Collett one (then again it may be for entirely different reasons!).. Almost any BR steam/diesel transition modeller will find room for a shiny new state of the art 4F 0-6-0 and Class 25, and while I would have loved to see a K3, who can begrudge the oft neglected Southern modellers their N Class. As to previous announcements, it is good to note that the Ivatt 2-6-0 is actually in production, and hopefully if at the artwork stage the J39 will hit the target release date too.Slightly more disappointing that at yet the A2 is only at the CAD stage, so clearly that is some way off yet. I woll just have to console myself with another weathered B1 Roy
ThaneofFife
indeed the 2mm range is rather tempting too. the DBSOs, a trio of 47/7s in blue, large logo and scotrail, nice. presumably the new 87s are new in livery only but still br blue and intercity-great choices. surprised no class 85 in N. Vanders
LNER 12T pipe wagons? I should have seen that one coming. The Mk2F's are good to see & the DBSO & 47/7 is a nice surprise. Other than it looks like I'll still have to do some re-numbering if I want a pre-tops 37/0 in blue.

justin1985
Lots of predictions fulfilled here! Great news all round really! The Southern and GWR steamers fill gaps that many had noticed, and its interesting that the pannier is now coming as a 64xx rather than a 57xx, clearly a last minute change after being gazumped by Dapol. The simultaneous release of the 47/7 and Mk2 air con coaches in both the OO and N ranges is particularly welcome - I'll certainly be buying a rake or two! I imagine the "InterCity" Mk2s refers to the earlier "Executive" livery? For me, the livery for both the 47 and the Mk2s is Intercity Swallow! (and of course the DBSO and Mk2s in Anglia, but I accept that will have to be a repaint!). However, Bachmann do seem very reluctant to issue more modern liveries on these newly tooled, BR era models. As with the 37s and original 47s, it seems they are taking a chronological approach, where green and blue came first, and lord knows how long we'll have to wait for Intercity Swallow, Virgin or WCRC. More generally, the reliveries of the existing models don't seem to be that interesting either, which is disappointing. e.g. the HEA hoppers are being re-released in the same combination of liveries yet again, when the Railfreight red ones are getting quite expensive on eBay now, as its so long since they've been released! The DRS locos are great news though, and sure to be popular. Great Western 150 also sure to be popular! No new class 20 liveries though? Mk1 coaches, again yet more of the same - when do we get InterCity, or, admittedly less likely, Regional Railways or Network South East? Slightly perplexing is another class 158 livery, presumably on the old model, when I believe Bachmann had announced a new tool 158 in OO, which I imagined would have put a stop to new releases of the old one in N until it gets shrink rayed (although we also saw this with the cl.25, with new releases of the one quite recently, despite the new one clearly have been on the drawing board). That said, its nice to have a re-visit to BR Sector livery with Regional Railways! How about a 159 in Network South East? Also, more 87s, based in old tooling? I thought electrics didn't sell well Justin
mjkerr
This is good timing for me, so have put my rolling stock plans on hold as I was about to send my 47474 models for repainting into 47/7 ScotRail livery These can now be repainted into other 47/4 with long range fuel tanks How accurate will these 47/7 be though?47701 has one crash repaired end (which Farish haven't modelled yet) and the 47/7 have an additional air pipe on one sideI also have several DBSO from Electra Graphic, so will complete this in the interim periodI have read comments that the DBSO will be DCC ready, will this be the case?I would gladly pay £30 if it is... woodenhead
What's not to like about that list and with an 00 24/1 there's more to come in later years. But who is going to produce the mkIII Scotrail coaches?

'CHARD
What's not to like about that list and with an 00 24/1 there's more to come in later years. But who is going to produce the mkIII Scotrail coaches? Note of caution regarding the 24/1, it's the Crewe/ Holbeck body style that's been announced (133-150), not the Inverness/ Haymarket shape (114-132). No please come back wallet, I promise I won't buy all of them. Well not all in one go anyway! Alistair
andymozza
25/2 - huzzah! A lot of other gap fillers as Tom has pointed out, that Autotrailer is crying out for RTC livery. Pix Great news, but I do hope they correct the major errors from their 4mm model,e.g small side grilles flush with the bodyside (not like the 24) and correct the cab side window angle, too shallow, Andy.
