N15class
The shed looks great, You said about modelling it with the doors open and wondered what to have inside, going by the size not a fat lot. Maybe a sack or two. Are the doors inward or outward opening?

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted May 18, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 18, 2013 Just looking at the two photos you are using in 'Your' book (will get it in the post on Monday) and I'm pretty certain it's an asbestos roof and the doors look to open inward, the photo is dated July 1949.

I was going to ask you if there were any photos in that new book. I keep finding the same 4 or 5 in all the others.
N15class
Yes looking at photo again I have to agree the doors open inwards. Less space to fill inside.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted May 18, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2013 This begs the question, what did the Southern / BR(S) actually use the building for? Was it either an office for whoever was responsible for running the Wenford Bridge Goods Depot or a very small store, or even both? Which book did the photo with bicycles come from? It's a single frame from a DVD Paul.

MikeHemmings
I have seen this type of roof on a building some wear, flat asbestos sheets with timber battens covering the joints, sorry this info is a bit late. Mike

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted May 19, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2013 In putting together the index I realised there were a load of photos of wagon kits that I hadn't posted . So belatedly here they are (loose roofs and lacking buffers prior to painting): The SR van and LMS open The LMS van underway Weight added (big lump of lead) and internal brace on the SR van SR van but can you spot the axlebox springing? SR van on its own LMS open on its own The LMS and SR vans together
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted May 20, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 20, 2013 New profile photo / avatar to reflect current interests. Here it is a little larger: Edit. Looks like from discussion on Damian's DitD thread that the image above shows Bodmin Gaol and a set of gallows! Edit Edit On closer inspection I think that: the tall building represents Bodmin Gaol, the crane and the pile of stone blocks to it represents Wenford, and the wharf and tub wagons is probably Wadebridge with the original sand trade... Apparently it's the company seal.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted May 20, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 20, 2013 I mentioned earlier that I'd include a few posts regarding the source material that I've been using for research. First the DVDs: About 5mins worth of B&W footage from 25mins in on a trip with a 1366 from Wadebridge to Wenford and back. I got all excited when there was a close up of Wenford Bridge Goods Depot sign which proved that at least the LHS door opened inwards but there was no further look around the building. From 1hr 4mins onwards there's some nice colour video from the brakevan (a LSWR one) of a run up to the clay dries. Some good shots around Boscarne Jct and Wadebridge. Prior to that there are some great panoramic sweeps of Bude, Padstow harbour and other locations on nice sunny days. There's about 90 seconds (c9m40s to 10m10s) of 1669 and the brakevan special to Wenford Bridge in the DVD below. Lots of close-ups of the engine but, other than a few glimpses of buildings and 2/3 of the first BV, there's no clear shots of any of the buildings I'm thinking of making. All colour. There's a good 7 or so mins of the Wadebridge / Bodmin / Wenford Branch in this one from around 43mins in. The quality is better than the one above despite being earlier footage - there's BWTs in abundance! Lots on the NCR too. All colour. I'll add some comments about each one as we go on.
