Arboretum Valley - Invasion of the Daleks

While on the subject of graffiti there used to be a classic visible from the eastbound M40 near the junction with the M25.  On a tall fence round a plantation, in letters as tall as the fence itself, was the legend:

WHY DO I DO THIS EVERY DAY?

There is also this classic from outside Paddington many years ago:

Some interesting commentary on this here and here...

There's a mention of Tiresias's Notes from Overground.  I strongly recommend the book - as noted "man is born free and is everywhere in trains."...

Waaaaay back I went to a Floyd concert in Auckland NZ. Best bit was the flying pig - caught everyone by surprise. The only regret from those times was missing out on Led Zeppelin. Sigh. The days of my misspent youth.

I don't think you will have much trouble completely filling the wall with "art". Do you have a suitable political statement you could add in or would that date it too much?

No...but no you mention it........

I have internet connection what really works!

I have not said how much I like your graffiti. It does look good.

Political slogan for those who have not made up their minds about voting, (with thanks to Bill Bailey)

What do we want-- DON'T KNOW!

When do we want it-- NOT SURE!

Does anyone remember "GOURANGA"? Often seen on bridges.

Here's a link to some google images.

Cheers,

Mick

google says Hare Krishna monks were responsible and it means be happy. But not graffiti per say, it looks like permanent structures on bridges.

been too busy to do any work......hopefully later today I can get some of these graffiti sorted.

OK I have 3 I like so far.....not in order......as I only want to put up good stuff.....Anthony's (Marcus37's son) is still tumbling in my mind.

The first one needs tweaking at the end.....but as I am learning how to use the colours and inks on this surface nothing is finished until stated and a greed with the 'client'  :jester:

So C&WR

As he has his love of the game on his thread....and he has agreed that his is good with a PINK graffiti moniker.....you'll see it's green...LOL :jester:

But this is because look carefully at the jersey and it has green stripes with white centres......and the M W has the angles to reflect this

I thought about making the star a golden yellow....but am not sure if it will spoil the overall picture.....is there any connection to a golden yellow car.....leprechauns pot of gold? sort of thing??

I've copied ideas from the London Irish badge

Once I have most of them in....I will tinker with them.

I am still experimenting ...attempting to get a more realistic .....looks like aerosol can finish. I don't think airbrush will work too well on the PIR, but I might try plastic later.

Ok so I played a round with @Jc, several ideas came to mind, I decided on a night sky....but even then if evolved

the @ was hard, but when I google it, everything was round...and it occurred to me...I could make a J and a C from a circle

med_gallery_17883_2760_289611.jpgrmweb2162wall16

med_gallery_17883_2760_321937.jpgrmweb2164wall18

and instead of more citadel matt colours, I used the citadel weathering colours which are opaque

med_gallery_17883_2760_646237.jpgrmweb2165wall19

I was impressed with the top of the scenery it looks quite realistic with the grass and a bit of bush

this is acctually Tamiya smoke...more oily

med_gallery_17883_2760_646237.jpgrmweb2166wall20

and I am looking for that deep in space look

The original arrows at the end.....evolved into stars......and the circles are my moons

checking reference to graffiti and the night sky pockets of space seem to be bluish greenish pinkish yellowing and white usually for bright suns

med_gallery_17883_2760_52847.jpgrmweb2167wall21

I did some blue streaks first

enlarged it a little as I needed more space background.sorry its blurry i forgot to check that it was focused on my ipad

but you can see the J and C and the space for the @ above

med_gallery_17883_2760_63159.jpgrmweb2168wall22

med_gallery_17883_2760_535803.jpgrmweb2170wall23

plaint with the opaque colours and the matt white

And trying to bring some closer

med_gallery_17883_2760_23689.jpgrmweb2172wall25

captured on better light conditions than today these will be brighter

as shown by a little sun breaking through the cloud

med_gallery_17883_2760_92562.jpgrmweb2173wall26

now I have a choice....and as it is for 2Jc....so I will pose the question to him

med_gallery_17883_2760_29492.jpgrmweb2174wall27

It is interesting to see the concrete through the letters

But I think a graffiti artist would want more

I can go for strong colours, possible dark royal blue through to white in strong stylised terms

or...I can take a risk (which I can paint over if al fails) and have a go at making them look moon like

news-graphics-2007-_447233a.jpgThe telegraph.co.uk by Adrian Berry

although I would use a blue moon colouring.

blue-joey-580x368.jpguniversitytoday.com

style....

I can't guarantee the result on a non smooth PIR....but I think it worth a try.

Looking really good Jaz. A very clever idea to base the letters on circles. I will choose the moon idea as I think it will look fantastic and I know you like a challenge.

Happy belated birthday, I was in Great Yarmouth in a caravan for a long weekend getting sunburnt with limited Internet.

Liking the latest work, but still not convinced with the art deco signal box position.

The wall of art is an interesting idea.

I think we are having trouble justifying the signal box.....once the wall is finished we will have to make a decision

Glad you like the wall, and as mentioned I think your name would look good as graffiti...thanks for letting me put you up. :sungum:
