Popular Post Lyddrail
I retired the layout after the Blackburn Show in 2009 after twenty years on the circuit and 88 appearances. However, after being invited to the DEMU Society 21st anniversary show it was time to return. I set the layout up in the now completed refurbished former garage/workshop having been renamed "The Studio", to check if the layout was fit to exhibit. I did this towards the end of last year and I was very pleased there had not been too much damage after storage for the last 5 years. So I said yes. The layout up for the first time since Studio refurb finished. Another view. As various scenic repairs were necessay I have decided to refresh the scenery using more modern techniques, and change a few areas adding a couple of buildings not previously modelled. Various reliability mods are also to be undertaken, and new and older trains will be run depending on time. Luckily I have just taken early retirement at the end of December so I should have more time for modelling, remembering I have done next to no modelling for the last 5 years. As I am doing this work to refresh the layout I have decided to do a few additional shows to make it worth while. I have currently been booked for Erith in January 2016, and Stafford in January 2017, other shows will follow. A couple of pictures of the layout taken at the Worthing Show in 2009. More to follow. I will post developments as I progress. Cheers.
Leon
This was the layout that inspired me to start all those years ago when I first saw it.

All the best P.S. Last time I saw it it must have been DC operated, is it now DCC and Sound?

Lyddrail
Gents, thanks for the nice comments. I have missed exhibiting and modeling. I forgot to add, not all the stock is mine, and it never has been. Although the layout is all my work (except the track painting, thanks Stu), the stock has always been in part provided by my operators. In the Worthing pictures Barrie & Paul Swann, Steve Farmer, and possibly Mike Fraser at least. There are many others too as my team has always been drawn from across the country (even Wales too, thanks Ian). Of course things will be very different as Barrie my right-hand man with the layout died before Christmas. There will be some form of tribute to his passing at Showcase. Sorry regards DCC but I could never afford to convert on a project this size. It remains DC. Cheers.

RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted January 25, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 25, 2015 Hi Paul It will be great to see you for a return visit to Stafford in 2017 I will do my best this time not to put you near the main door. I like many others are really pleased you are back on the circuit for a few more exhibtions. See you at DEMU if not before. Terry
RMweb Premium Grampus Posted January 25, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 25, 2015 Wonderful that Tonbridge West will be back on the circuit. Like others on here, I decided to model the (then) contemporary scene rather than the steam/diesel transition period as a direct result of having seen this marvellous layout in action. I look forward to being inspired all over again! Best wishes, Paul

Grampus Paul, you reminded me I was contemporary all thoses years ago, but I couldn't keep up. A few more pictures from Worthing. 47467 at the Redhill end groundframe. Sea Urchins in the Redhill end South headshunt. Jubilee sidings with train tanking pump hut and water tank. View from the footbidge. 33202 with sleepers recovery train leaving the yard. RMweb Premium Grampus Posted January 26, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 26, 2015 Paul, with liveries and traction like that, I don't feel any need to modernise or keep up! Cromptons are supposed to be blue or Dutch in any case... and besides, I've always enjoyed history! Kind Regards, Paul

Cromptons are supposed to be blue or Dutch... Paul ...or green (maybe even triple grey) perhaps not engineers grey but certainly not black or red. There should be lots of them with lots of 'cows' and 'dace'. Happy days
