  1. A very thought-provoking post. It would be good to say that those of us within the hobby would not publicly ridicule someone who had vulnerabilities but the sad fact is that some have taken great delight in being unpleasant when they have no knowledge whether someone does have such vulnerabilities.
  2. Evolution rather than revolution I'd say Mike, despite there being 10 layout features in the magazine I've long said that we need to give features some breathing space rather than trying to cram too much in. I really like Oly Turner's Six Quarters, only two spreads but it oozes atmosphere.
  3. You can always drop them an email rather than hijacking this topic.
  4. Second strike, please stop irrelevant and inflammatory price rants.
  5. To the accompaniment of a heavenly choir.
  6. Wow! Hope you have a good trip Kevin.
  7. If it does not match to your satisfaction then it is a case of returning it or carrying out additional work for it to match your existing rake. Bachmann have said what they have done and why they have done it; what's done is unlikely to be changed no matter how much repetition you use.
  8. They have responded to you directly and also via this topic so it's more a case of the answer not being what you want it to be. They have explained the reasons why but, as a consumer, you have a choice whether to retain the model (if you bought by mail order) which would have to be taken up with the retailer.
  9. I've created a sub-forum for content relating to the programme and the layout features so they don't get too lost down the lists. I reckon I've missed something somewhere (on the layout features) so if you spot anything which needs to be moved into this area let me know!
  10. Are we going with the fully-working scale cakebox in a scale cakebox in a scale cakebox in a cakebox?
  11. At Peterborough show a couple of years ago we tried a (universally unpopular with everyone in the hall) 9.00 entry for advanced ticket holders. One of the first visitors in the queue moaned at me that we were opening too early. I probably wasted my breath in explaining he didn't have to be almost first through the door.
  12. So the all-encompassing sweeping generalisation is actually about specifics that are nothing to do with this site or any magazine in the group. Please think before posting something which attempted to tar all with the same broad brush.
  13. After an initial frustration I found it much easier if the buffer is removed before tackling it.
  14. Thanks to Richard Proudman for the following explanatory information. Initial response: Following consumer feedback relating to previous Royal Mail liveried models, where the yellow used was felt to be too bright, we have revised the colours used in the Royal Mail livery – as applied to the new Branchline POT Stowage Vans. This colour more closely resembles that applied to previous Royal Mail liveried vehicles such as the BG (39-184/184A) and GUV (39-275) models. Images of the POT models feature in the 2018 Branchline catalogue, on our website and have been displayed on the Bachmann Roadshow stand over the past twelve months and we have not received any feedback regarding the colours used up to this point. As with every model, we welcome feedback from the public and your comments regarding the colours applied to these particular models will be considered by our R&D team when planning future releases. Additional response: The images shown on our website are the same as those printed in the catalogue and the models featured are in the same livery as the production models that have recently been released. The models referenced in my earlier email are shown below for comparison.
  15. I did. Sadly, it was the former which I have no intention of repeating here.
  16. Evidence? The only time we've ever intervened here is when see posters make inappropriate sexist/racist/discriminatory posts or the opposite, making accusations of biased positive discrimination.
  17. Yes. But do have some sympathy with Mikkel as he's obviously watched the video.
  18. You see, I only went as far as thinking that.
  19. Stand space at Warley is likely to be problematic but Phil will confirm. We can certainly make sure there is space enough for visitors at Peterborough to get a good look.

  21. EM Gauge Society commissions ‘ready-to-lay’ trackwork from Peco We can reveal that the EM Gauge Society, which was formed in 1955 to promote modelling in 4mm scale with a track gauge of 18.2mm, has commissioned Peco to manufacture items of ‘ready-to-lay’ bullhead wooden-sleepered trackwork. With design work already at an advanced stage (undertaken to the Society’s own specifications), there will be left- and right-hand two-way turnouts (to B6 geometry), together with plain track. The turnouts are set to feature solid metal blades and parallel sleepering (perpendicular to the straight route) – with sleeper length and spacing as per the prototype. To be supplied as Electrofrog items only, the manufacturer’s existing code 75 bullhead rail will be used, whilst the existing Peco bullhead rail joiners will also be suitable for use with the EM gauge items. Plain track will be supplied in 914mm lengths, but with the sleeper base split into scale 60' lengths; the sleeper spacing will be reduced on sleepers positioned at the ends of adjoining panels, as per prototype practice. CAD renders of this new trackwork range are reproduced here. It is expected that there will be 3D-printed samples on display at this year’s Warley National Model Railway exhibition. These items will be available to members via the EMGS Stores and also visitors to events being run by the Society such as the two expoEM shows. Delivery date and price information are still to be finalised but is expected that plain track will be available at the EMGS AGM in December and the turnouts in Spring 2019. Further details about the EM Gauge Society, including membership benefits and how to join can be found on the website: www.emgs.org
  22. I'm perplexed to see signs at pumps encouraging you to pay by app next to warning signs not to use mobile phones. Make your minds up.
