  1. Mark's comments are spot on but I did try to film from certain positions where there were less visual cues to the era. If I'd filmed across the station yard or with figures in the foreground it may have been more obvious.
  2. I would, of course, agree wholeheartedly but I fear the nose would clear half the platform furniture on the station curve. I have volunteered the availability of a sound-fitted weathered EM model if trials are required at any time. I have some other dirty blue stuff too.
  3. NEW MARKETING EXECUTIVE AND RETAIL & BUSINESS ENTERPRISE MANAGER FOR LOCOMOTIONMODELS Image - Bob Sweet Locomotionmodels, who produce "the National Collection in Miniature" for the Railway Museum at York & Locomotion at Shildon, are delighted to announce two new appointments to the team - Dennis Lovett as Exclusive Models Marketing Executive, and Richard Barnett as Retail & Business Enterprise Manager. Dennis joins the team in a part time role following his recent retirement from Bachmann Europe Plc where he was Public Relations Manager for 13 years. Prior to joining Bachmann, Dennis worked in the rail industry primarily in advertising, audio visual, marketing and public relations. He Iatterly served as Deputy Director Corporate Affairs for Virgin trains. Richard will join the Business on 3 December 2018 as Retail & Business Enterprise Manager in a full-time capacity, and is swapping Red Rose for White Rose as he moves across from the East Lancashire Railway following his most recent stint as the railway's Commercial Manager. Richard comes to the team with wealth of experience in both business management and the model railway industry. Tom Mackie, Group RetaiI Operations Manager for the Science Museum Group said: 'We are delighted to have been able to bring Dennis & Richard on board. Dennis has a wealth of experience in the model railway sector and was responsible for commissioning many of the Bachmann Collectors’ Club models over the years. Dennis also worked closely with the Railway Museum and Locomotionmodels on the launching of the first few models which were initially produced exclusively for us by Bachmann.’ Dennis has been involved in model railways for most of his life. He joined MiIton Keynes Model Railway Society on its formation in 1969 and served as Chairman for 26 years. He stood down from that role in 2014 but remains an active member. Richard, who is a keen enthusiast, has devoted much time to volunteering over the years at Foxfield Railway and is proud to be a driver on the line. Richard said: 'I can't wait to get started on new projects for Locomotionmodels and work with a team that has achieved so much over the years.’ ”For me in many respects I am returning to my roots having been brought up in retaiI from a very early age through the family model business, Footplate. I hope that through my background I can bring my creative and energetic sparkle to the team and look forward to the future.’ Dennis said: ‘I look forward to working with the team at Locomotionmodels to produce yet more iconic models from the National Collection over the coming years.’ tom said: 'I am sure having both Richard & Dennis on board will continue to grow our NationaI Collection in Miniature brand even further, developing what is already a successful business for the Science Museum Group'. Dennis will be on the Locomotionmodels stand at Warley Model Railway Exhibition this weekend and looks forward to meeting both existing and potential customers on Stand D113.
  4. Bachmann Europe set to host TV show winners at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition As proud sponsors of The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition and supporters of Channel 5’s prime-time television show ‘The Great Model Railway Challenge’, Bachmann Europe Plc are thrilled to announce that visitors to the 2018 Warley Show will be able to meet the winning team and their layout from series one for themselves. After being crowned as champions, the team from Aberdeen Model Railway Club will be making the journey south to the NEC, Birmingham, with their winning layout ‘City of Tiers’ to take centre stage on the Bachmann stand at The Warley Show over the weekend of the 24th & 25th November 2018. Visitors to the Bachmann stand can also get hands-on and see how easy it is to make realistic miniature grass and landscapes using the fantastic new static grass ‘Field System’ from the world leaders in model scenery products – Woodland Scenics – with expert model-maker Peter Marriott encouraging visitors of all abilities to give-it-a-go with interactive demonstrations. In addition, we will be joined by the team from Proses, all the way from Turkey, who will be showcasing their innovative range of modelling tools and accessories designed to make layout construction and maintenance easy – ideal for the beginner and experienced modeller alike. Alongside our trio of special guests, the Bachmann stand will again play host to the Members Lounge – a dedicated space for members of the Bachmann Collectors Club to get up close to the latest developments from Bachmann Europe and talk to members of the team about new and forthcoming developments. ‘City of Tiers’ will be one of three layouts from ‘The Great Model Railway Challenge’ on display at The Warley Show which, now in its 26th year at the NEC, will bring together more than 90 of the best model railways from across the UK and Continental Europe to showcase the hobby at its finest.
  5. Now everyone loves you I've got to make an appointment for an audience with you. You may have walked the hall with anonymity last year but I reckon by lunchtime on Saturday you'll have done the deed that's getting the most gossip at the show and on here.
  6. A nice little nugget in there is this...
  7. Maybe they're just toying with us again and it's a Lococomotive?
  8. I'm sure Rapido will have some of the latest progress on the bus at Warley Show. Jason gave me and Phil a guided tour around the real thing earlier in the year. Looking at the floorplan for the show they seem to have a rather large sized stand this year. About the size of a bus. But will it be the Guy Arab Birmingham?
  9. A short tease of some things you may get to see on the day.
  10. You've come up with another first; announce the price but not the product.
  11. MRM in the title, will move it from UK prototype to Smaller Suppliers too.
  12. Only 'cos I've had to revert to earlier settings. Still needs sorting but I've had my fill of it this week and I don't want it broken for the weekend.
  13. That's all part of the issue. I have temporarily removed the enforcement of SSL for this evening until I can get to the root of the problem so you probably won't see that now.
  14. It was long before such formalities existed, besides no-one saw me!
  15. Nothing to do with diesels (apart from it saw a Class 22 pass through yesterday) but of interest all the same.
  16. Just to whet the appetite a little... I had chance yesterday to see some testing of diesels in the Vale scene with some shortened trains. Maybe it's because such stock is more relevant to me than the 1930s but I have to say that I have never seen such a fantastic setting for such workings. I shall drop a few more pictures in the run-up to the event.

It’s been a few years since the last Heljan British catalogue was produced and the range has developed significantly over that time. The catalogue will be released at the Warley NEC show on November 24/25 and will be available from Heljan stockists nationwide in late-November
  18. NEW: BR ‘AL6’ – Class 86/0 Bo-Bo electric In response to public demand, we are developing a fully re-tooled OO gauge Class 86. We’ve also taken the opportunity to backdate it to depict the ‘AL6’ in as-built condition and as a Class 86/0 for the period 1965-80. Our new model retains the smooth-running chassis and mechanism of Version 1 but features a number of improvements over our previous Class 86s, including a completely new pantograph, 21-pin DCC interface, better bodyside grilles, plus original pattern bogies and underframe equipment. CAD work on the models is complete and tooling is now in progress. The first engineering prototype samples of the ‘AL6’ are expected to arrive in the UK early in 2019. Models will be released in all the major variations of original BR blue and late-1960s/1970s BR Rail Blue and will include a weathered edition. Proposed Liveries – loco identities to be confirmed later • 8650: BR blue with lion & wheel emblem ‘as built’ • 8651: BR blue with lion & wheel emblem (small yellow panel) • 8652: BR blue with lion & wheel emblem (full yellow end) • 8653: BR Rail blue with white cab roof (full yellow end) • 8654: BR Rail blue (full yellow end) • 8655: BR Rail blue (full yellow end) • 8656: BR Rail blue (full yellow end) WEATHERED • Expected Release in late-2019.
  19. NEW: BR/Clayton Class 17 Bo-Bo diesel O GAUGE The Heljan range of BR diesels in O gauge continues to expand with the addition of the Class 17 centre-cab Type 1. Despite their attractive design, intended to give crews better all-round visibility than existing Type 1 diesels, the ‘Claytons’ proved to be an expensive and short-lived failure. However, their short career has made them something of a ‘cult classic’ among diesel enthusiasts and interest remains strong with modellers of the steam/diesel transition era. Building on the success of our OO gauge ‘Clayton’, this new locomotive will feature fine detail throughout, twin motor bogies, LED lighting functions, etched grilles, sprung buffers and has been designed for easy DCC and sound installation, plus provision for an ESU smoke unit. Design work was completed earlier this year and the first engineering prototype samples of the O gauge Class 17 are expected to arrive in the UK early in 2019. Models will be released in all the major livery variations and will include a weathered edition. Proposed Liveries • 1750: BR green unnumbered (small yellow panel) • 1751: BR green unnumbered (full yellow end) • 1752: BR Rail blue unnumbered (full yellow end) • 1753: BR green D8607 (small yellow panel) WEATHERED • Expected Release in late-2019.
  20. Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Baldwin 2-4-2T Lyn Image courtesy of Brian Daniels Catering for the growing interest in British narrow-gauge modelling, our second British OO9 locomotive will allow modellers to complete their Lynton & Barnstaple Railway locomotive fleet. Lyn was built by Baldwin in 1898 for the L&BR and shipped to Devon in kit form for assembly at Pilton Works. At the time, the railway needed additional motive power but Manning, Wardle was unable to supply a similar machine to those already in service (and available in December/January OO9 from Heljan!). A superb full-size replica of Lyn was recently completed for the restored Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in North Devon. Our new model will depict Lyn in L&BR dark olive green and Southern Railway Maunsell green with authentic detail variations according to period and livery. For the benefit of the many OO9 modellers with ‘freelance’ railways we also plan to offer a version in undecorated works black. Research and development is underway and more details about price, features and specification will be announced later. Proposed Liveries • 9980: Works black unnumbered • 9981: L&BR dark olive green Lyn (original chimney) • 9982: L&BR dark green E762 Lyn (with stovepipe chimney and SR numberplate) • 9983: Southern Maunsell green E762 Lyn (pre-1932) • 9984: Southern Maunsell green E762 Lyn (post-1932) • Expected Release in 2020
