  1. I dont know if its still there but on the wall in the bar area (to the left hand side) there used to be a framed copy of the architect's drawing (1:100) of the front of the buidling showing the new build and the original structure :)

Thanks mate! I'll have to pop in there next time I'm in Cornwall. Maybe they will let me have a sneaky copy!!

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  2. Certainly looks very much like Par to me :)

Are you going to be having a model of The Royal next to the bridge?

    Hi Mickey,

The Royal is the next building on my agenda. Just need to make another trip to Par and kindly obtain the permission from the owners to do a bit of measuring. It will be my biggest card building project to date! Hopefully it will turn out alright!

Although I may have a bash at building the footbridge first.

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  3. Good progress again Jeremy - I wouldn't worry about the colour...perhaps cut a few slots and they can double as the postboxes

Do like to see a nice domino duff too...nice work...

Thanks Pete! It seems to be coming together a bit more now. Glad you like the domino duff. I plan to renumber this one to 47076 "City of Truro". Very appropriately named for Cornwall!!

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  4.

Well done Jeremy - Found myself by chance standing on the bridge overlooking this very building 48 hours ago...if you are missing something let me know although am only armed with iPhone camera.

I think when you have finished the detailing of the building it will really come together...perhaps some weathering powders to help blend in some of those verticals? Nice work...

Thanks mate! The building does look a little basic at present, think I'll take you're advice and give those weathering powders a bash. Never used them before but the results on your moorswater layout looked great!

Thanks also for the offer of pictures, I'll keep you posted on that.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Oh, by the way, have you got JV's Cornish Railways book now?

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  5. Hi Chris,

That's looking nice. I was thinking of attempting to build some of these myself. I've got several close up pictures of some ground signals at Par station, so if you think they would be of use, feel free to PM me and I'll e-mail them to you.

    Best regards,

  6. Hi Jeremy Nice work on the building shell. Rich beat me to it...I was going to suggest you make your own 'wallpaper' for want of a better phrase - worth a try I think. Keep us posted...

    Hi Pete,

Thank you for your comments. Think I'll get all the structure ready and then create my own "wall paper" on the computer. Another trip to Par then!!! I have no problems with that!

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  7. Freestone Model Accessories specialise in paper and card models. They will probably know if such a paper exists. There are a few places on the web, but I guess you probably tried the most obvious ones that spring to mind. TomE - on his Ropley blog - has printed out photographs of the prototype to use as the papers for the brickwork (see here, here, here and here). You would have to do some heavy editing to get those photos in to shape to do that but I reckon it could be worth the effort, based on what I recall seeing previously from that other blog. I've no idea how you actually would go about doing this though - sorry.

I agree, I think taking a photo and then editing on the computer will be my best bet. Noch do some nice papers but the stone one is just a little too dark. Thank you for the links to the Ropley pages.

  8. Very nice and very neat,,,and some pix of the old place are always good to see :) I cna't help you with the colour I'm afraid - Having studied thosse walls at very close quarters many times all I can think is "definate green tinge" to the stonework.......

    Hi Mickey,

Thank you for your kind comments. I think I am going to have to do a "make do" job with the colour of stone work as there doesn't seem to be very many options on the market. I think all the doors at this station were painted red in the 80's but I can't be sure. Will need to research that.

    Best regards,

  9. Hi Pete,

I agree with the other guys, the super glue theory sounds like a good plan. Or you could get some real china clay powder and glue some deposits over the furry areas to simulate spilt china clay.

From the pictures you have posted though, the layout still looks absolutely amazing and is coming together very nicely!

  10. That's coming on nicely Jeremy - some nice weathering to the track...

    Loving those tractors too :D

Once you have formed the polystyrene formers I recommend using a skim of Sculptamould - lovely stuff to work with.

For the weathering of the platform, try a light dusting with some weathering powders applied with a very soft brush...

    Hi Pete,

Thank you for your comments and tips! I'll order up some sculptamould today.

Haven't used the weathering powders yet but I'm always up for trying out new stuff!

    Best regards,

    Jeremy

  11. Brilliant modelling Jeremy. The ballasting looks good-nice and subtle. The track work is nicely weathered too. I really like the weathering you've achieved on the the locos which again looks right. Out of interest. How did you do 37672? Having stood on Par Station many a time I'm looking forwards to seeing this progress. Just need a 2mm scale John Vaughan now! Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark! I can't take credit for 37672 as this was a professional renumbering with etched plates and weathering. However 37206 is my own work, using a Farish re-tooled class 37. As you say, just need that 2mm John Vaughan taking a picture or two on the platform!!

  12. Hi Pete,

I am very similar, I tend to leave all the small bits and then all of a sudden I have a spurge of enthusiasm and get them done.

Some great progress there and certainly an inspiration for me to get stuck into some little bits I have been putting off. May well crack on tonight!!

I agree with Mark, that FGW 153 certainly is a lovely model.

    Best regards,

    Jeremy
