Hi,
That looks fantastic
Regards
Lee
Thanks mate! It has been coming on slowly but now it's starting to get somewhere.
Best regards,
Jeremy

Looking good. Do you know what mesh it actually is?
Regards, Andy
Hi Andy, I'm not sure what mesh it is but it is part of an N scale chain link fencing kit. This piece was kindly donated to me by devondynosoar118 and I'm just waiting for some more to come through in the post from a supplier near folkstone.
Best regards,
Jeremy

Nice work Jeremy. It's hard to believe this is 2mm scale.
I've stood on the real thing many a time to take a few photos.
Cheers,
Mark
Cheers Mark! This is my first effort at scratchbuilding in plasticard and it seems to be turning out ok.
Best regards,
Jeremy

That's coming together nicely now - the mesh really looks smart
Thanks Pete! It's not easy cutting the mesh but the kitchen scissors seem the best way. Luckily the wife didn't notice me using them for "something other than food preparation"!!

Jeremy

That looks really good. I am sure I have no more left as I found the empty box today whilst looking for something else!
Glad to see such fine progress, i have been eagerly awaiting developments following the last entry.
Thanks mate! It has been a slow process but it's getting there now.......finally!

Jeremy

That cobbling looks great CK! I Especially like the area where the tarmac has worn away leaving the exposed cobbling. Looking forward to seeing these painted up.

Tractor looks great, as they always do when they are grubby. The weathering looks superb. Keep up the good work. I'm sure I would be talking for all on here when I say we all look forward to seeing your next project.
Thanks mate! As I don't own an airbrush I have to dry brush and build up all of my weathering and this is my first go at weathering powders. Since these photos were taken, I have blended the smoke stains a little more into the roof which has given a more realistsic look.
Next project is 37181 which I intended to start about 6 months ago. Still not got round to it!!!
Best regards,
Jeremy

Looks great Andy! I was thinking of having non operational ones on my layout of Par but you have shown here that a superb semaphore signal can be produced and fully operational. When the time comes, think I'll have a bash at building some operational ones.

Jeremy

Looking good Jez. Can just hear those Paxmans winding up for take off.
Cheers mate! I'm really tempted to try and get some executive liveried power cars as I like the idea of having a blue/grey coach set to accompany them, showing the livery transition period.

Jeremy

Very nice, thats Par alright! What sort of season do you reckon it will be set in, there has been a lot of talk of seasonal modelling lately.. High summer? (Which I guess includes all sort of weather..)
Thanks mate! I haven't thought about a particular season yet but I think I will go for late Spring as Par will have a tree lined backdrop and this will set the layout off nicely with plenty of "greenery" as a backscene. Best regards,
Jeremy

Two entrys in one week I see married life is kicking in
Great stuff Jeremy - The HST looks mighty fine and you have modelled a good length too...should be fun to operate and along with long clay trains snaking through the background will be awesome.
Is that a toothpaste 50 I can see in the background?...
Thanks Pete! Yes, that is 50030 Repulse awaiting its next turn of duty. I must admit, there has been a bit more modelling taking place since I got married!

Jeremy

Just need that buffet car now.I think Dapol are releasing it in the next month or so. Hopefully the TGS will follow soon!
Best regards,
Jeremy
P.S The mesh is working out really well so thanks again for this. Just need to fix the cut pieces into position now! Very fiddly!

Good start Jeremy - do like a nice n grubby tractor me
Front end detailing lookin' nice to with the ploughs...and it looks lower too which helps...
Won't comment on the fixing as haven't done that to any of my stock yet...but I will sit back and note the tips given above...
Thanks Pete! I've enjoyed working with the powders and will definitely use them again hopefully improving my skills as I go.

Jeremy

Nice one! Thanks for the advice! I spent a bit of time today blending the smoke stains into the roof a bit more. It's starting to look a little more realistic now.

You can use acrylic paint thinner - the one I have is artisan water mixable oil thinner, which does the job.http://www.artstore.co.uk/winsor-and-newton-artisan-water-mixable-oil-thinner-250ml-c-336-p-3450
Thanks for the tip. Do you paint this on or just put drops on the area of pigment?

Looking good Pete! Those etches make a massive improvement to the wagons compared to the originals. Looking forward to seeing them running through Paddock Wood. Which exhibition will it be at?

...pop it in the post to the 2mm Association and have its paws turned down
Lookin' good Jeremy - as Mark says, once the track bug bites its hard to work with Peco again...did you start ballasting Par yet?
I can see this layout is starting to turn that 'dark side' in you....
Thanks Pete! I have already ballasted one board out of the three for Par. Think I'll keep that as my final N gauge project and use easitrac for all future projects....... maybe St Blazey depot.....!!!!
Best regards,
Jeremy

Looking good Jeremy and the latest aquisition looks very nice too.
The 2mm FS easitrac makes an huge difference over the standard PECO track work in appearance. Now you've started will your rendition of Par follow a similiar course?
Finally, the kitchen floor looks spotless although I think the cat isn't to 2mm FS standards!!!!
Cheers,
Mark
Thanks Mark. I have thought about changing the track on Par to Easitrac, and whilst it does look so much better, I'm not sure if I have the heart to rip up the old track.
My wife had just cleaned the floor so I jumped on the opportunity to get the layout out! Jack (the cat) likes to keep an eye on the layout progress!
Best regards,
Jeremy

Welcome to the club Jeremy
Looking good so far...watching with interest...
Andy - Maybe that's not the kitchen...perhaps its the Railway Room and Jez hasn't told his wife yet the kitchen has recently relocated to the loft
Thanks Pete! It's going to be a challenge. Ordered up my track yesterday so hopefully it will arrive next week and I can start threading the rails onto the sleepers and getting it into position on the board ready for fixing.
Best regards,
Jeremy

Welcome to 2FS... or FS160 or whatever....
> so my wife doesn't realise that I am filling the house with railways
umm... isn't building it in the kitchen a bit counter productive then?
> which system I am going to use for the fiddle yards
Modules are probably the most space-efficient and require just a flat-ish surface on which to shuffle them. Then you just need to decide how to arrange the alignment and feeds - bulldog clips or some sort of plugin arrangement. Having two modules attached simultaneously at double track spacing is a bit more of a puzzler though.
What will you use for the overhead wires?
Regards, Andy
Hi Andy,
Umm...yes, building in the kitchen isn't the best idea. I was asked "shouldn't you finish your other layout first?" !!!
I think I will have a bash at the modules idea for the fiddle yards with the plug-in arrangement for the connector wires. I intend to use DCC so hopefully will provide smooth running.
For the catenary, I will be using the excellent Somerfeld swiss outline masts. I used these on my previous swiss layout and they look superb once they are up, albeit really fiddly to install!
Best regards,
Jeremy

I assume your modeling to 1:160 scale in which case check out http://www.fs160.eu/fiNeweb/standards/HANDB.php will you track be 9mm ?
welcome to the dark side
Hi Nick,
I will be modelling to 1:160 scale but to N scale clearances for the turnouts (when I eventually attempt these)as TomE has used on his superb "Ropley" layout.
I'll check out the fs160 website. Thanks for the link!

Jeremy

Looks great mate! What colours did you use for the stonework?
