the front pond bed is starting to look good i am losing the battle with the sparrows and the lettuce

do you have a hole that the hedgehogs can use to get into your garden needs to be 12 to 15 cm square it can take a while for them to find it as they are animals of habit pigeons do not left out the seed from the trays on the feeders is put out for them when i empty them John

we get blue great and long tailed tits starlings chaffinch goldfinch greenfinch sparrows robin blackbirds dunnock pied wagtails and in winter we get grey wagtails also carrion crow jackdaw magpie and pigeons to clean up any small spillages as the trays and pots under the feeders catch most of it we have two hedgehogs and a couple of wood mice plus a bee hotel that has all it holes filled i also have 3 more feeders at the other end of the garden i have only seen rats very occasionally John

Hi all the garden is keeping me very busy i have completely rebuilt my feeding station a replacement pond for the back garden planed out John

I put a cage round one f my feeders to stop a pigeon and for the next few days he wood come and try to get to the feeder then when he realised he could not get to the feeder he sat on the top of the cage and sulked John

I decided to replace the spiraea with something a bit more wildlife friendly not saying it was hard to dig up but i think i have invented some new swear words it replacement is a Hypericum red fame this has bee friendly flowers and berries for the birds the clover to the front of the bed has been trampled a bit but should recover John

the Bee hotel has done very well this nearly all holes filled the front garden pond now has the edging tiles fitted in place wood edging put in still some soil back filling to do plants to be seen are the marsh marigold in the pond also in the boarder by the path is kidney vetch and hardy geraniums and some variegated Ajuga by the pond and toadflax at the other end of the pond not sure what i will planting in the rest of the pond boarder yet

well cycling home to night Just before the brow of a hill with a tight bend i get over taken by a BMW leaves me plenty of space but at the same time a land rover overtakes the BMW at High speed just missing an on coming car at this point the BMW lights up his blue and twos and pulls him over nearly fell off my bike laughing John

today we have goldfinch sparrow starling and blue tit fledglings in the garden it is quit a sight seeing them all begging there parents for food John

the Hedgehog in the garden in busy gathering nesting materials including pull leaves of my teasels

the pond in the front garden is starting to attract the wildlife a large red damselfly

now for me it is the other way round the starlings leave the seeds but demolish the fat and suet balls John

i have been invaded by starling fledglings today far to many to count but at least 15 John

after not having any hedgehogs use the nest box for the last couple of weeks i had two last night i will stop looking in now just in case they are little one on the way
