  1. It's a pity they don't spend the money on something useful. YOU MAY WANT TO, BUT YOU CANT CHANGE HISTORY!!!! Davey
  2. I am suddenly being INUNDATED with advertising 'POP UPS' at the TOP, BOTTOM and SIDE of all pages I view. It's extremely ANNOYING. As I'm not a Techno Nerd, I have no idea how to prevent this extremely annoying occurrence happening. It is getting to the point where if it doesn't stop happening, I will no longer participate on this site. Can either the administrator take steps to put a halt to this invasion of my life, or some other knowledgeable person tell me how I can stop it happening. Many thanks in anticipation of someone being willing to help. Davey
  3. Might I suggest, (it is only a suggestion), that you need more heat at the joint you're trying to unsolder. In this instance a soldering iron might not produce sufficient heat, so try using something like a Proxxon mini flame heating torch to heat the joint whilst a second person uses pliers to try and rotate and pull the the crank away from the mating part. If this is successful before attempting re-assembly follow the advice given by Micknich2003 in the previous post. Davey
  4. More like a compost heap I would say! Davey
  5. Somebody should 'eccle' you for that comment. Davey
  6. It appears to be a 3 cylinder radial engine. The radial engine is a reciprocating type internal combustion engine configuration in which the cylinders "radiate" outward from a central crankcase like the spokes of a wheel. It resembles a stylized star when viewed from the front. They're also known as 'Star Engines'. The radial configuration was commonly used for aircraft engines before gas turbine engines became predominant. They are always configured to have an odd number of cylinders, i.e. 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. Follow the link - How do radial engines work ? – MechStuff Davey

  10. Wickham Green, thank you for the information ref. BFB wheels on Class 12 Diesel shunters, BUT why oh why the exclamation mark. Totally unnecessary.
  11. Interesting in that it's fitted with BFB wheels. Davey
  12. My favourite location is Greenholme on the climb to Shap Summit. Even without trains it's a beautiful location :
  13. Yet another abomination! It's a railway locomotive, NOT a feeble attempt at art!!!
  14. I've just come across this very interesting, British Transport film from 1962, about the North Eastern Region of British Railways. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's well worth a look. Copy the link - Vintage railway film - The North Eastern goes forward - 1962 - YouTube into your browser. Davey
  15. Many thanks Dave, I have looked for Class 175 drawings, but unfortunately with the same result. Regards, Davey
  16. I am contemplating scratch building a 7mm scale Class 180 diesel hydraulic multiple unit, as operated by Grand Central, and to this end I am trying to find drawings of these units. I have spent hours trawling the internet in search of drawings, but to no avail. It seems that finding post privatisation rolling stock drawings is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack. However, I am aware, that from time to time, drawings do appear in the model railway press of post privatisation vehicles. Hence, I am enquiring to see if anyone knows of any drawings published in the model railway press, or indeed anywhere, giving dimensions for the class. Also, relating to the Class 180, I have a couple of additional questions, which are: 1). Does anyone know what the wheel diameter is of these units is? 2). Does the Class 180 share the same cross sectional profile as HST units, i.e. the Mark 3 profile? Any help, or suggestions of possible sources for drawings would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Davey
