The company I used to work for up until mid May when I was made redundant are going to invoke the mid lease break clause and ask all of the surviving employees to work from home permanently, they are so scared for their jobs they will agree, whether it is good for them physically, mentally or financially. An example I can cite from personal experience and I am sure this must not be unique.

The working in offices in city centres business model is broken, a lot of companies in the financial, technology and service sectors (who occupy the majority of city centre office space) have now instituted structures and working practices which enable their work force to work effectively from home and any meetings are handled by Zoom and MS Teams. Working from home is the new norm, and a lot of businesses will be terminating office leases and saving on accommodation costs including prohibitive business rates, I know this from first hand experience. This also has a further benefit as the work force is probably happier as they do not have to spend considerable time and money on commuting. Commuting will never recover to anywhere near pre-Covid levels, and the cost of season tickets is not at the centre of the decision.

Norfolk coast is quieter as it isn't at the end of a motorway, unlike Dorset.

I live just west of Poole, and believe me the whole of Dorset and not just Bournemouth is gridlocked when the weather is good, which is most days at the moment (thermometer at 30 at the moment) That is why it is in the news, it is so much busier this year because people are flocking to the coast instead of Spain and Greece, and I can't say I blame them because its a great place to be and the weather is usually better than further west in Devon and Cornwall. I haven't been to the beach so far this year as a result of the influx, hopefully it will all die down a bit in September.
