  1. A month from today, 17/7, I'm firing/driving a steam loco at Llangollen - 50th birthday treat from my daughters - well chuffed!

  2. Unbelievable...micro-modelling quality of the highest order I really must come and see the layout in full flow one day... David
  3. Awesome; sheer quality.... Many thanks for all the pictures; that's a few more for my desktop/screensaver collection (with your permission, of course) David
  4. Feeling totally spoiled now; lovely shot...
  5. Beautiful, thanks GB; quick question - do you run formations like this just once through the station as per the timetable, or do you sometimes let it do a few circuits just to get that 'watching the trains go by' feeling? (that's what I'd do...!) David
  6. Wonderful - there's something very calming and therapeutic about watching a long line of everyday, work-worn, business-like rolling stock trundling by - something us youngsters sadly missed out on; PN exudes the atmosphere perfectly... David
  7. If you're still takings requests GB and the timetable allows, a Type 4 in the platform with an A4 approaching (or vice versa) both with an eclectic mix of passenger and parcel stock would cover my personal favourites on PN... Thanks! David
  8. Reading up on how to fire and drive a steam loco - never knew there was so much to it :-D

do you not just fill with water, switch on an wait for the whistle ... that's how nornml kettles work

  9. Lovely rake of coaches GB; it's probably due to them being caught in the light but it's the first time I've noticed the destination boards on the sides, although they must have been there in previous pictures - were there only a few rakes which carried them prototypically, or should all the coaches of this era be so adorned? David
  10. Nope! you get a lot of 'front/rear three-quarter/close-up' shots of locos all over the forum, and it's nice to see the rest of the train for once...there's some beautiful examples of passenger and freight stock on PN worth showing... More please... David
  11. Not that I don't love the elegance and beauty of PN's steam locos, but now D209 has departed for Grantham, how long in the timetable before we see another of EE's finest...?! (mind you, I could watch those rakes of coaches roll by all day, whatever the motive power...wonderful) David
  12. Let the Diesel Haters hate, but to me this shot of D209 with the mixed rake behind is beautiful... David
  13. Fantastic GB, many thanks - great to see them all in context...and again the variation in liveries which I find fascinating and very appealing... David
  14. Beautiful set chaps; lovely to see in its 'finished' state...by the way, what coaches made up the rest of the train? Be nice to see an overall shot... David
  15. Beautiful rake GB; it always intrigues me as to the variations in colours, hues, textures and so on, even on very similar types and allowing for lighting etc - far more interesting than a row of identical coaches which you so often see running on other layouts, but rarely in prototypical pictures... Thanks for posting David
  16. Fantastic shot GB, and a wonderful mix of coaches and liveries - any chance of a 'passing shot' of the various types? David
  17. Just found out the exercise bike I bought 2 years ago and hardly used doesn't work any more...oh dear, how sad, never mind...

I just dusted off my rowing machine and found the same thing - but took it apart and fixed it!

  18. Just a post to congratulate you on over 700,000 views, and only half a dozen more posts to 9500 - just shows how Peterborough North continues to hold everyone's imagination and provide endless topics of conversation...here's to many more views and posts! Oh, and I personally love Deltic in its ice-cream livery, and would have liked to have seen a Type 4/Class 40 decked out in something as striking! *runs for cover* David
  19. When I was there during Summer the 2nd hand stuff was mixed in with the new stock, and nothing was marked with a price, so I had to keep going and asking 'is this new?' and 'how much?' which was a chore and I quickly gave up; the only flaw in an otherwise excellent shop. David

  22. Hi Gerry The layout looks really good, and the new pictures show it off very well. I like the way you've adapted the buildings to fit and give a good representation of the area; sometimes it's the 'flavour' of a layout rather than the slavish adherence to the prototype which gives its appeal - I think this is the case here. Any plans for ongoing changes/improvements etc? Might be nice to see the stock you're using in more detail... I hope to be restarting my own version in OO soon, but will keep coming back for updates! Regards David
  23. A Dapol Terrier, a few Parkside wagons, a couple of yards of flexi and a 2nd hand point, perhaps?..no, no, no, I can't!

  24. Nail hit firmly and squarely on the head there Grahame IMO! Now, as we've gone almost 3 whole pages with no pictures, can we have some more shots of your layout and stock please Tony?! Any updates on the scenic front...? Thanks David
  25. Wow, that's really good - I guess the end result depends on the type of plastic on the model tyre and length/strength of the heat? I'm not sure the rubberised wheels on some of my cars would react too well to this treatment, but the plastic kit ones should be ok... Either way, at least there's an option...good stuff David
