  1. Ah thank you I think I'm getting it now - so if I have 3 sections I need a 6-way rotary switch for each so any of the 4 controllers can operate any section...? And the switch uses the +ve (say) feed whilst the -ve of each track feed goes back to the controller? Is that right? BTW Maplins is no more so will have to plunder Ebay or something...! Thanks again David
  2. Many thanks for these; two of them I've actually looked at before starting this topic, but I will have to revisit them as I didn't know if cab control was right for this scenario so didn't go into them in much depth. I do confess to knowing absolutely nothing about electronics, wiring, switches and so on so the terminology seemed a bit 'foreign' to me at the time, but I'll persevere! David
  3. Haha yes indeed... ok, so cab control seems the way forward, so I just need a very simplistic set of instructions as to what switches to use and how to wire them up... Thanks David
  4. Apologies there are no diamonds they're all individual points, some back to back... The main lines are effectively Up and Down running parallel in different directions so the need is to cross from one set to the other ie 1 to 3 etc... Hope that helps explain it - I've no idea how to install cab control or the idea you suggested so any pointers would be great! Many thanks David
  5. Apologies; the picture didn't load; I'll try again...
  6. Hi All The layout is OO and is DC analogue. All the points are electrofrog with their frogs attached to switches for polarity change. All good so far...! Please see the diagram below, showing the 4 main lines (it was the best I could do with MS Paint!). The various colours indicate the controllers and their respective feeds to the tracks. The red lines indicate insulated joiners ie rail breaks. I wish to be able to do the following: Cross from 4 to 2 and 2 to 4 Cross from 3 to 1 and 1 to 3 Be able to run trains from 4 on 3 (albeit briefly) and 3 on 4. How do I wire it up so I can do the above? Do I need 'Cab control' or something? I've really no idea and would welcome some help please. Many thanks David
  7. Beautiful! Would love to be there but I'm up at Llangollen for their gala weekend... David
  8. Fantastic shots! That unmistakeable body shape and heft is very evident, even in the silhouette pics, and these colour pics give a real sense of presence...can almost feel the rumble and hear the whistling as it thunders on... More please! David
  9. Yes good point - I'll check online first this time! Mind you, it'll be worth an extra few quid as they always put on a great show... David
  10. I was in Llangollen yesterday looking forward to a leisurely ride up the line to see Carrog and the developments at Corwen but the Thomas brigade had taken over and the platforms (and surrounding carparks) were awash with visiting families. I fully support using these events for creating interest for future generations, but found it a bit annoying when our lifetime membership passes didn't allow us access to the station without paying for event tickets! Next weekend is the steam gala so I'll pop back then... Your model of the station (in both scales) is truly amazing and demonstrates well-honed skills far beyond my fumblings. I very much look forward to the new iteration taking shape... David
  11. Received it; read it; like it; bought the Pug! (currently similar price to those on Ebay!) it echoes some of the 'heads up' emails I get from other publications; a bit of everything to brighten the day and some useful articles and offers. Long may it continue! David
  12. Two excellent pictures in my opinion GB; quality motive power and atmospheric photography David
  13. Is it just me or are the David Jenkinson pictures on pages 54/55 of the print copy a bit blurred/pixelated? Otherwise it's an excellent read this month. David
  14. See my edit above; my subs copy just arrived - clearly a postal delay somewhere... David
  15. No sign of my subs copy in sunny (yeah, right ) North Wales....guess it's still in the postal backlog after the holidays...still, thought best to flag it up! Edit: Panic over; just arrived! David
  16. That last picture of D210 on the bank is nothing short of stunning; real sense of space and location, wonderful! David
  17. New year; new house; new railway room - bring it on! Happy 2018 everyone!

  20. I would like to get hold of a Bachmann 5-car Super Voyager in Virgin livery, preferably new and pristine (not weathered). Any of the names would be fine as I've been on most of them, but 'Doctor Who' or 'Louis Bleriot' would be good. There's some on Ebay for silly prices but as usual I'm not sure of their quality! Please PM me if you can help. Thank you David
  21. This was my first 'local' show since my return to Prestatyn in August; some excellent layouts on show, especially Nannerch and Maentwrog Road (loved the sound of the class 40 chaps!). Thought it was a well-run and very friendly exhibition; good to finally meet up again Martin. Hoping to visit the club in the new year, so maybe catch up with some other RM-webbers there too! David
  22. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Always believed a barn of grain would be worth more than a ton of gold in a famine.

  23. Moved house from London to North Wales, from recycled to fresh air! Prestatyn in N has come home!

  24. Been moving house (London to North Wales) so missed the last few days' photos, but looking back I do like the look of the Kirk coaches - the carmine panelling has a really nice 'texture' to it. Sorry I don't know about the prototype to comment on their accuracy, but to me they look 'right' on PN... Love the still life pictures too... David
  25. Thank you; that does make things a lot clearer! Quite a system really; never would have thought of linking them up like that... David
