Some of you may have seen my 16mm Simplex in the July BRM - the article was requested following a chance encounter with Phil Parker at the last S&D show in Shepton. I am building a simple "twig" to run my WDLR stock so I thought it was time to share a few photos. This is the loco that started it all - since this was taken the bottom plates have been re-installed correctly.

It was my first visit to the GCR and I I had a cracking day out - although the show was extremely hot - I'm glad I had the option of popping out for a cooling train ride - unlike the exhibitors and traders. Train services were frequent and enjoyable - I enjoyed all the motive power - one suggestion would possibly be to include a few different diesels throughout the day but that's a minor gripe. Being off my normal patch I enjoyed seeing some new layouts and particularly liked Tanpit Lane which I thought was very nicely put together. I also bought a few bits from LCUT so I'll be interested to see how they go together.

Pixash Lane - now owned by Bentley Model Railway Group
Gilbert replied to Gilbert's topic in Layout topics
Thanks to all for their help and suggestions. Pixash Lane has today been delivered to a new owner and will hopefully be putting in an appearance at some more local shows over the next year or two. I have not completely withdrawn from 4mm and a small quarry layout may appear soon.... ATB Chris -

I think I may have seen it as a lad at the Merseyside Show at the Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool - is that the one? If so it was outstanding. Chris

Can anyone advise how easy it is to access the headcode box so dominos can be replaced with a headcode? I'm thinking about 32-484 but would prefer a head code in place Thanks Chris

What is a Cameo Layout?
Gilbert replied to Not Jeremy's topic in Creating Cameo Layouts - The Challenge
I deliberately buillt Twigg Street (sometimes known as Twigg Avenue) my HO "cameo" (a cameo by accident rather than design) to be set on a table and operated from a chair sat down at the front. The reason - the numerous questions about DCC, sound, Kadees- plus the basics - from a whole generation of parents who's off spring like the trains but they themselves may not have had "trainsets" in the way those of us in our late 40s and 50s may have done. People can sit down, chat and play and others watch over their heads and listen - I know that's not a true cameo scenario but it works. ....and can someone define "operating potential"? My 3 sidings with hands off uncoupling and a bit of sound keep people occupied for ages. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/113995-twigg-avenue/ ATB Chris -
