  1. Make a small jig so each turns out the same and hold bits in alignment??
  2. How about using some packing to spread the force - strip of cardboard maybe?
  3. WW1 WDLR figures in 16mm would be pricey no doubt but very welcome Chris
  4. This is rmweb - don't let that logic stop you..
  5. Hopefully mine will not be far behind! Chris

I've never subscribed and over the years of early career, marriage, children etc etc missed or chose not to buy various editions - now in late middle age with changing and expanding modelling interests and hopefully improved skills and knowledge I'm now hunting down the missing copies...... ATB Chris
  7. Hatton's photo suggests not?
  8. I have now had a very positive response from Rails and the offending loco will be going back tomorrow I am not alone apparently and they are now opening these up pre-despatch Chris
  9. Another vote for the "Album" - a fantastic resource.
  10. I have identical issues - I emailed Rails yesterday and await a reply...
  11. MLI 193 says that all were internally fitted for MU from the start and ""after only a short perod the advantages of such operation became apparent" and the external nose end fittings were fitted - can't find any photos after 1969 in MLI with no mu kit
  12. MLI 193 Photos on Pages 8 and 10 show D400 at Vulcan Foundry with MU cables (and Page 11 shows 401 with and 403 without) Chris
  13. If you can access Halfords Ford Dove grey that works quite well and leaves a nice gloss finish for transfers Chris
  14. Some photos of the current state of play.
  15. Some of you may have seen my 16mm Simplex in the July BRM - the article was requested following a chance encounter with Phil Parker at the last S&D show in Shepton. I am building a simple "twig" to run my WDLR stock so I thought it was time to share a few photos. This is the loco that started it all - since this was taken the bottom plates have been re-installed correctly.
  16. It was my first visit to the GCR and I I had a cracking day out - although the show was extremely hot - I'm glad I had the option of popping out for a cooling train ride - unlike the exhibitors and traders. Train services were frequent and enjoyable - I enjoyed all the motive power - one suggestion would possibly be to include a few different diesels throughout the day but that's a minor gripe. Being off my normal patch I enjoyed seeing some new layouts and particularly liked Tanpit Lane which I thought was very nicely put together. I also bought a few bits from LCUT so I'll be interested to see how they go together.
  17. I took some - will post tomorrow or Monday
  18. I saw Sheepcroft yesterday at Burton - always one of my favourites. Chris
  19. Thanks to all for their help and suggestions. Pixash Lane has today been delivered to a new owner and will hopefully be putting in an appearance at some more local shows over the next year or two. I have not completely withdrawn from 4mm and a small quarry layout may appear soon.... ATB Chris
  20. I've always found this helpful http://www.wiringfordcc.com/switches.htm
  21. I think I may have seen it as a lad at the Merseyside Show at the Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool - is that the one? If so it was outstanding. Chris
