    Did someone mention boxes?
  2. In the UK 3G is being switched off first. 2G is remaining for some time (up to 2033 latest but maybe earlier, but certainly not as fast as 3G)
  3. BT do (or did) provide a very basic mobile on demand when you go DV. I got one for a friend of mind who's not tech minded. It was very basic and very limited but did work to some extent, though of course you have to remember to keep it charged as you don't know when the next power cut will be. In the end she sent it back and could live with outages, though by that time I'd got her quite a good basic 2G phone which I prompt her to use every couple of months so she's ~proficient with its use.
  4. Talking Pictures TV (Sky328, Freeview 082) Thursday 02May: 11am – The Hillman Minx in the 1960s Made in the 1960s an astounding road race featuring Sheila van Damm; former owner of The Windmill Theatre and female motor racing competitor. She must drive non-stop and not below 40mph for 20 days. No idea how good/bad this is but maybe worth programming the betamax.
  5. Night Mail comes round quite often on Talking Pictures but tomorrow at 12:35 and 1pm (Sky328, Freeviw 082) they're showing Night Mail1 and a 50th anniversary of Night Mail, Night Mail 2. Not sure how good NM2 is as I've not seen it in ages.
  6. The GWR dynamometer car became W7W after nationalisation, which has got me thinking, was there a W1W and if so, what?
  7. It's all about click bait these days
  8. The Polish crews on the Wolsztyn Experience used to use it a lot......
  9. I just had another very good week (Mon-Sun) though that's about to change. Only bought approx £1.20 of energy but got stung for ~£4.40 standing charges. As mentioned before I get nothing for exports, so it's all about juggling solar and powerwall and PHEV charging for me. I also went from start of charging period 10Apr, to 20Apr only buying 30p worth of electric for the car*. Happy bunny me. Edit: *approx 190 miles for 30p
  10. Last week (Mon-Sun) was the first where standing charge was more than electricity I'd bought. Am not exporting, imports are 7.5p kWh on Octopus intelligent go, or free from solar with Tesla powerwall. It was quite sunny and I'd been using car less as I'd been ill, so by careful husbandry of charging car a bit at a time so as not to deplete powerwall too much, and no overnight car charging (powerwall makes its own mind up what to import overnight) managed to only buy £2.25 of electric all week for which I had the privilidge of paying £4.20 standing charge.
  11. Hard to believe it's 13 years since the first run!
  12. Bronwydd Show probably 1st June, the team aren't quite ready to publish details yet.
  13. You beat me to it. Judging by eye, it would seem to be 2/3 of the dimensions of the small window by both width and height.
  14. Thanks that's really useful. In the episode, fighting takes place where something has been recently demolished, and there were lots of stubby concrete supports in the ground and I couldn't make out what would have been on them. Looks like they were the remains of supports for those 8 'funnels' in the pic
  15. Aren't we spending a fair bit of dosh on 'BBC Verify'?
  16. TPTV (Sky 328) have been running the Manhunt series from 1970ish. This Sunday's episode is about an air raid on a factory and I think this is the one with associated rail depot alongside. The writers orginally wanted to do an entire episode with no dialagoue but in the end it has just 12 lines of dialgoue to set the scene, and the rest is 'all action' as our heroes infiltrate the factory and steal the goodies. AFAIK this episode has only been aired once since original transmission (40th anniversary of this particular episode). There's nothing online about locations for any of the episodes but am pretty certain they didn't go outside SE England for filming. My recollection is that the depot looked like it was on the Southern but I never could identify it before. If anyone's watching or recording and can have a stab at the actual location I be grateful.
  17. Some while back we had a discussion on an older version of the board but none recently? Ideally I'd like to stay below £75 unless there's a really good reason.
  18. It wouldn't matter a jot if the ship was out of control, but does anyone else agree that the way the containers are stacked it's difficult (impossible?) to see the bow from the bridge?
  19. Where abouts is the Ivy Railway pls?
  20. Our surgery faxes them to local surgeries and/or waits for the pharmacy to come and collect physical prescriptions. West Wales isn't known for rushing into things!
