  1. Meanwhile back at the football, the ref (and Belgium) seem to have had a good first half. Pity he couldn't have been in charge of England v Columbia.
  2. Looks like they papered over the cracks early in preservation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCGJqjKD1XU Hat, coat, etc etc
  3. Is there a glitch (feature?) in the program that won't allow you to backdate withdrawal dates? Given how old the core of TOPS is, there may be some circumstances that were never forseen, and weren't worth the cost of reprogramming.
  4. It seems to me that SLW have a very loyal following. It may be the case that they don't need to worry unduly about the big manufacturers. The question for any producer is "Can I sell enough of them at my price point to make a profit?" With their track record (part pun intended) my gut feel is they could do a 25 at a profit.
  5. If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot
  6. Something I've noticed with World Cups in general and I'm not sure what the answer is. In general it seems to me that the opening round matches with the mini-leagues are quite well refereed (ie they all get together before the start and agree to sing from the same sheet). Of course the 3rd match in the mini-series can get quite heated. Fast forward to the semi final and final, and these go to very experienced referees at this level. Now the difficilty is that with the start of the knock-out phases, teams are getting more desperate, but FIFA are trying to give refs more experience so they can be the guys who can do the late stages in future competitions. Thus you have a mix of teams getting pretty desperate at the same time as you have refs trying to get experience which can lead to the kind of situation we saw Tuesday. I'm not sure what the answer is, because as we saw with our lads taking penalties, you can only get real experience with games that matter.
  7. Germany fail to qualify for knock-out stages England win on penalties Bachman retool GWR Manor I guess it's unreasonable for an adult to be granted all 3 wishes?
  8. Getting Mighty Crowded - Betty Everett
  9. No one knows - they haven't been there in living memory .....and Scotland are living in Dreamland! 2m 06s
  10. Or maybe it will be their Waterloo with the Germans coming to our support?
  11. One surprising fact emerged after Harry Kane's penalty. Despite all the doom and gloom about penalty shoot outs, England have never failed to score from the penalty spot in 60 years, for penalties awarded during normal time.
  12. Along With Every Studebaker Ooodles of Money's Expended
  13. That could prove very useful in 4mm. The Metropolitan District Railway had some similar boxes eg Boston Manor There was a company ABM Railcraft that started doing these in card. I didn't buy one when I could, as I was nowhere near ready to construct it. By the time I tried to purchase, sadly the guy in charge was very ill and closed down - he doesn't appear to have sold the deign to anyone else. I currently have a bodged LNWR cabin (my line is a 'might have been' Metropolitan/LNWR Joint) but this could prove to be even more 'realistic' (bearing in mind the line is totally ficticious!)
  14. So today's big question is - who will the Russian fans get behind after 5pm today when there's no longer any local interest.......?
  15. Yes, anyone with Uruguay in the office draw might be thinking they've got a real dark horse in this competition.
  16. I'm not crying (groan). The great thing with Argentina out, is we won't have the camera cutting to that odious little has-been up in the stands every time they score.
  17. I never said they were exempt, just that it's a pressure on our lads we don't always think about (plus the fact we are now the youngest team left?)
  18. It's also easy for us to ovelook some of the unexpected pressures on our lads. Although some (most?) of them are paid a shedload of money, it's the first time many of them have had such a prolonged period away from their families, and this can be hard to handle on top of the heat, the game, the practice sessions, the media.......
  19. Another vote for Code 100 here. It works with pretty much any stock I run on it.
