  7. Went for £103 - though I guess this is more accurately described as market forces rather than madness. 3 bidders very keen on this.
  8. This one's a bit perverse. Sud Ost Bahn 465 015 at Luzern May 2007. What's uncommon about this? In my experience all the others in the class were covered in advert liveries. I've never understood why bus/train companies employ expensive design agencies to come up with corporate identities and then cover too many of their vehicles in adverts.
  9. Curr 94 quid and just under a day left if you want to join in (thoguh admittedly I believe this is quite rare?) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D-S-Models-Etched-Brass-Kits-For-GER-50-Foot-coaches/132535676974?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  10. When we lived in High wycombe (Thames Water) we changed to a meter in early 2000's and it took about 7 years until we were paying as much as the old system (by which time the price of the old method would have gone up even more). The next door neighbours changed to a meter and their charges went up a lot (even though there were only 2 of them). There was a leak somewhere but fortunately they were on top of it, and opted for the old system before the period of grace ran out (I think TW agreed to charge them as per the old system). So the moral is, if you do change, keep well on top of new v old before you're stuck with it.
  11. It's all gone very quiet on here. Is there any truth in the rumour those clever SLW guys are working on real steam or is it just more fake news? Chester 25245 April 83 by Leighton logs on Flikr, on Flickr
  12. Something people who don't use credit very often might overlook is the 'pay nothing for 6 months' type deal on big ticket items. There'll be a credit check somewhere in the background, even if you intend to pay in full at the expiry of the free period.
  13. 2018/2019 metered charges for dwrcymru shown here: http://www.dwrcymru.com/en/My-Account/About-My-Bill/Metered-Charges.aspx Or un-metered: http://www.dwrcymru.com/en/My-Account/About-My-Bill/Unmeasured-Charges.aspx
  14. I don't have a bill to hand, will try and find one. I was a bit surprised to find it's higher than Thames Water where we used to live (presumably some infrastructure costs spread across smaller customer base). Having said that at approx £1.50 per day for water+sewage (2 in house) it's one of the lower household bills. We seem to be consistently using ~27cu mtrs every 6 months.
  15. A letter from Welsh Water dropped through the letterbox this morning. I pay 6-monthly and it's not due. What horrors are they trying to inflict on us now? Can you imagine my surprise when it was a cheque for £75 and an apology for recent disruption? This presumably is to all domestic users in the area as I never asked for anything. The funny thing is the only disruption we had was loss of supply one Sunday evening until sometime in the night Monday as the pressure was normal Monday morning. Fortunately some friends a few miles away had warned us they were cut off so we filled some kettles and saucepans as soon as we realised our pressure was dropping. When you consider I normally pay ~£200 for 6 months this is quite something.

  19. Oooh Matron! My wife is currently having daily injections and ther are about 8 ladies in the community nurse team. One lass is quite new to rural West Wales and trying to work out her orientation when going from call to call, and how to best minimise ther toal journey (say 15 calls a shift). I know courier firms have overnight lists of the next day's deliveries and programs/apps that work out for the driver the shortest route for the day. Is there such a thing as a cheap/free app for a mobile phone where the lass could tap in say 15 postcodes for her shift and have the app work out the best fit for her?
  20. I find Pound shops are a good source for sets of cheap make-up brushes
  21. So does that mean Tabitha and her Dad have to resort to empty washing-up liquid bottles and sticky-backed plastic?
  22. If the trains always run on time in Germany, exactly what time are they running to?

  24. A lot of photters go to Pratteln just east of Basle/Basel for the varied freight traffic. A few hundred metres further south, tram line 14 terminates in the back of the town, passing this chemical(?) works on the last leg of its journey. June2015
