  1. Plus of course the 73 would have inbuilt backup being able to choose diesel or electric.
  2. That is just soooo wrong - surely it should be the Pilkington set?
  3. I have a OO Works C13 to which I'd like to add the pump on the LHS and a bit of pipework. I have a Markits Westinghouse pump but that's much to large and in 2 parts with a small connecting pipe so not the right type at all. Can anyone advise if there's something available or will I have to resort to scratchbulding? I can't find any photos of the Chesham branch locos online (though have some in books). They look to be the same as this:

  5. Am new to the idea of buying things on Fb Market. If you see something you like, how do you pay? Is it a case of making contact with the seller and seeing what they'll accept in terms of cheque/Paypal/BACS etc if nothing's explicitly stated in the ad?
  6. One report I saw said the Moskva's radar only had 180 degree coverage. Can this be true? The Ukrainians have certainly been creative in their tactics in this war. If it's true the Moskva didn't have all round coverage then one explanation is the drone was a distraction to allow Neptune missiles in through the back door and/or the drone was grabbing their attention one way whilst also guiding the Neptunes.
  7. I notice he pours cold water on the idea of a tube link for the Royals saying they could be helicoptered to Northolt etc. IIRC the rumours of a link to the Piccadilly at Hyde Park Corner-ish date back to (pre) WW2 when helicopters weren't an option.
  8. Quite a good 20min watch here:
  9. In 2019 our local model railway club had some 'younger blood' running the exhibition after 2017 barely broke even and we'd had an off year 2018. The exhibition was at Bronwydd near the Gwili Railway and close to Carmarthen. We'd never advertised on Facebook before and also this was hot on the heels of Great Model Railway Challenge getting good audiences including women and girls. The guys running the exhibition used an option where you can advertise of Facebook in a 50km/35 mile/45 min drive radius as anything larger was felt unlikely to be worth the extra cost for us. Am not sure how you handle this if you're coming long distance and want to advertise on Fb 'out of your area'. What I would say (helped by GMRC's popularity) is I've NEVER seen so many ladies and girls at a model railway show and the vast number were actually interested as opposed to coming politely or on sufferance to appease dad/brother etc. We made a profit of ~£500 on a small show running 10-4 in an out of way area, easily the most profit we'd ever had.
  10. If anyone's interested I had a go in Word as they are simple plates. I used Calibri 6pt though realised afterwards I actually have Johnstone font available, however at 6pt and normal viewing distance here's little to notice. I had some self-adhesive photo paper and some 10 thou plastikard for backing (from the 1960's!) so used this combo. After taking photos I realised they need a bit of toning down but I'll need to practice first with some powders on test plates away from the signals.
  11. I did it for the 2nd time last Oct (or late Sep when they sent renewal notice) as I was approaching 73. There was lots of stuff in the news about mountain of DVLA backlog etc etc. Doing it online (I have passport) was simple and the licence came in less than 7 days. In fact I held back a few days from sending in my old one. They say you have to cut up your old one and send it to some address. They obv don't check they have the old one before sending out the new one and I doubt they pay anyone to reconstruct the pieces and check/sign off that you have sent the old one back. As an aside I decided some while back to keep renewing passport even if I never go abroad again as life is now very difficult if you have neither passport nor driving licence. At some stage I may have to give up DL (I hope not) whereas you can renew passport ad infinitum (for now.....)
  12. I've got Type 2 diabetes. As I understand it.... I don't need to inform DVLA as it's treated by tablets (metformin) and diet. However, from discussion with diabetic nurse, if you take insulin or gliclazide you do need to inform DVLA. https://www.gov.uk/diabetes-driving
  13. I need to make/purchase identity plates (if that's what they're called) for my signals. Does anyone make customised ones if you supply your requirements, or can someone point me at how to do it myself? Thanks. eg: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gb-lu-raynerslane-signals.jpg
  14. At least 2 are diagrammed on Bargoed services today, maybe more I didn't check them all.

I guess the acid test would be to see what they're prescribing and at what cost. One of my rescue's came with a heart problem and is on daily clopidogrel tablet £15.39 for 28 days. Plus the cost of 6 monthly checkups (£30?) as they won't do repeat prescription for more than 6 months.
