  1. This table from the Martin Lewis site shows different suppliers applying the rebates differently from each other depending on who you're with and how you pay https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2022/08/how-energy-suppliers-will-pay-the-p400-cost-of-living-support-pa/
  2. Black departmental van delivered here at lunchtime. Delightful model. I haven't changed the footboards, everything is as-unboxed. My track is Peco code 100 and she runs perfectly well through pointwork. Admittedly most of my points are medium and large radius, but I do have one crossover where both points are small radius and no problems.
  3. Not my thing but they have Hornby R30022 66709 Sorrento for £56 (curr £74 Kernow, and £91 Hornby site) https://hobb-e-mail.com/Hornby-r30022-gbrf-msc-66709-sorrento---reduced-48751-p.asp

  5. I normally use ads-b exchange for tracking military though yesterday didn't make any difference apart from the 'crash'. When you bring up the display click on 'U' button top right to show just military. https://globe.adsbexchange.com/ Flight number was KRF01R - am guessing King's Royal Flight 01-Rex?
  6. Your present 33p seems quite high. Am paying 28p (rising to 34p in Oct) which I thought had become the norm under the April price cap as competition had all but disappeared. 33p on present rates sounds like you've either fixed your tariff or on a tariff where the headline rate for overnight usage is a low price but they claw some/all/more back by increasing the daytime rate. (Am with Ovo but thought there was little difference).
  7. Ovo did do Economy 7 and Economy 10 but they're not available until the Oct turmoil has settled. Afraid I can't tell you what the prices were as by the time I was seriously looking (almost?) everone had stopped offering such rates. However from the little I can gather and that fact that I prob won't do much overnight charging when PHEV arrives, I'm pretty certain higher daytime rate that mostly accompanies cheap overnight headline rate would leave me worse off.
  8. A couple of things worried me about the call at Gretna Green so must admit I didn't watch much more. When he arrived at GG the panel said he'd been getting 1.8mile/kWh, which unless he'd been getting home charging free from solar or ridiculously low price, would have been dearer per mile than petrol? When he arrived at GG he had 28pct battery remaining. I don't think he told us total charging time at GG - apols if I missed it. When he returned to the car it was 40pct full with 11 mins remaining to get to 80pct full ie 11mins to get 37pct in the tank. "Wow this is the way it should be". With my MHEV a 10min stop including queuing and paying gets me say 90pct charge (I never go too low) and gives me 650+ mile range. THIS is the way it should be, and fortunately for the forseeable future is.
  9. That's a good price for public charging. I have an MHEV with a PHEV on order (no way I'd go full EV in west Wales) so have been looking at public chargers in anticipation. Unless I'm very much mistaken they all cost more than petrol in terms of p per mile, even before the Oct price hike.

  11. Certainly if I don't recognise I would wait for them to speak into the answerphone. However thanks to digital voice (thanks Openreach) anything that's not in my phonebook now comes up as 'out of area' meaning I have to do this more.
  12. Just remembered I have a couple of pics from May 2012 of a loco at Toul, and a loco + outline of barge at Bar le Duc.
  13. Peugeot 403's appear quite a bit (like Columbo used to drive). This week's episode had a 4-door estate in the background, quite rare I think? There was an episode called The Golden Fleece which doesn't seem to be available any more. It had a lot of location shots of French canal towing locos of CGTVN. Some info here: https://www.internationalsteam.co.uk/trains/france21.htm
  14. The CHE series of registrations were issued from Dec 1948 to Feb 1950
  15. No I bought it over a decade ago for my previous layout with track in situ, from a shop near Slough that's since closed.
  16. https://www.osbornsmodels.com/350-103db-joes--rusty-rails-painer-starter-kit-dk-brown-20740-p.asp I used it on my 1st layout. It was quite messy but did the job quickly. For my latest layout I sprayed the track with Tamiya TS1 red-brown spray (wiping the railheads quickly before it dried) and before actual tracklaying. rev a Tamiya Spray 800px by Sarah S1ddons, on Flickr
  17. The police want(ed) a way to quickly identify age of vehicle to see if MoT was needed (and poss anything else age-related). Doesn't work with cherished plates and others pre-dating 1963 but will apply to the vast majority o vehicles on the road.
  18. Am holding off switching supplier until I know who's publishing what after 01Oct. Although the present Octopus Go tariff looks good for overnight charging it's not for me as I'd lose overall. For Ovo am currently paying 26.94p/kWh (rising to 52p 01Oct) Standing charge 45.85p/day (No overnight rate) AIUI Octpus Go this Sept: Daytime 04:30-00:30 40.04p/kWh Overnight 00:30-04:30 7.50p/kWh Standing charge 47.88p/day As mentioned before I'm hoping to get a good contribution from solar (obv won't be 24/7!) as I'd only be looking to add 20-30 miles charge at a time to the PHEV when I get it. (My present total consumption per year is about 2,500kWh though naturally I'm looking to make some changes this winter esp using cooker at 1pm rather than 5pm for main meal in winter or using microwave more).
  19. Indeed, Ovo couldn't offer me a date for a smart meter. I have in the past been a refusenik! As it happens I don't have a delivery date for the car and it could well be a 23 plate, so mostly I'm trying to get organised whilst I'm relatively unpresssured, and delay to smart meter is no problem for now. Have had external 13amp sockets installed which for now are just a more convenient way of plugging in the lawn mower....
  20. Thanks. the wording on the website says something like: if you don't have a smart meter yet, you can switch on a standard tariff until they can switch over to smart meter and Go tariff.
  21. The phone line was saying differently yesterday* but might give them another try. 4 hours might be enough for me. I have solar panels and would hope to get a good contribution from them on sunny days. Have been calcs on what if 1/3 or 1/2 is solar (ie free) at Oct rates. Assuming I get 3.2 miles per kWh that's 134 or 101 pence per litre equivalent. If I get more than half solar on sunny days and/or more than 3.2 miles per kWh I'm laughing. Am trying to look at night tariffs for winter when there's no sun. As the Kuga PHEV gives 35 miles electric and the vast majority of my mileage is say 20 miles or less am only looking to top-up a lot of the time and thus not need long charges. *one poss fly in the ointment is the Octopus website's saying you need good mobile signal for the smart meter. I have poor moble signal here. Ovo saying if/when I get smart meter and they can offer overnight tariff they'll take readings from me.
  22. Down here in Carmarthenshire it was sorted reasonably quickly. I don't pay by DD and those who do got their money first. I had to wait for them to write some programs/web interface etc etc but once it was live got my money in approx 2 weeks after entering details online (money received 10June)
  23. ??? only if it's fixed. Overnight rates are unregulated so if you're not on a fixed tariff now then we don't know what the overnight rate is as no supplier (unless you know differently) is currently quoting post-Oct rates for new customers on those tariffs.
  24. Wasn't sure where to put this so started a new thread. We've all heard about the £400 we're getting towards energy this winter which is being credited to the electricity providers as nearly 100pct of us are on electric. I'm curr £139 in credit and my curr DD of £74pcm (for the Apr-Sep prices) should have been correct to break even at the end of winter. Prices are going up ~80pct in Oct so the £66 would have covered the increase for me (my heating is oil - not much mains gas in west Wales). I was a bit perplexed to receive an email from Ovo today saying I need to increse my DD to £100 as they project I'd be £330 in debit by the end of winter - this doesn't take into account the £400 coming form the govt. I spoke to a nice lady just now, and it seems for some reason the £66pcm will be paid to the suppliers, but they have to then give the money to us by whatever means we normally pay, and we then have to adjust our payment method to give money back to the supplier...... I guess it makes some sense as some of us may need energy support for oil/gas rather than electric but it does seem a bit of a faff.
  25. Principles are going to cost 80pct more from October and heaven knows how much more from January....... 🤣
