  1. If I was a betting man, I say it’s Mk2E’s in Scotrail livery to take advantage of the Bachmann Scotrail DBSO’s and 47/7’s....i’m Sure they made a comment fairly recently about how nice it would be to do a Scotrail liveried Mk2e....
  2. I find it surprising the amount of negativity regarding Dave.... He was on the forum regularly, providing updates.... some of these updates were about progress, some about setbacks...some people seemed to revel in the setbacks... Unfortunately, due to extreme negativity displayed towards him, I can understand why he no longer wishes to be active on the forums... it must have been difficult reading some of the venemous comments... I am in no way connected with Dave in any way, just a crowd funder for several of his projects.... I found it disappointing and annoying, that a vocal minority seemed determined to sink Dave and his various projects, putting at risk my investments.... He has put out an update to those who have invested in the project, look at the negativity that has generated.... really???
  3. Pete, What do you think requires updating on the model? Personally, as already mentioned several times, I think it’s one of the best models that’s been released.... Now, we need to work on Ben to do another run of post Tops class 27’s......
  4. Wasn’t just the GWR version, the Hornby Intercity Swallow version had a number of errors in it, again all easily avoidable.... but here’s the issue.... it looks like they have basically sold out of the swallow TSO’s, so as far as they are concerned it’s been a successful run...Got to say that the OR intercity coaches have been getting sold off pretty cheaply by some places, think £17 was the cheapest...surely that must indicate to them that there is something wrong...
  5. I came back to the hobby roundabout 2003/4.... purely by accident, on a quiet night shift was bored at work and was aimlessly surfing the Internet and somehow comes across Hattons website.... well the rest is history and since then Hattons have relieved me of thousands of pounds..... So back to the original post.... I had to say, that having been away from the hobby for nearly 20 years, I was initially disappointed/confused.... the parcel arrived from Hattons...Hornby class 86 and something else.... the models/toolings were still the same as from when I was really into the hobby in the 70’s and early 80’s... Pretty poor, I thought to myself... the hobby hasn’t really moved forward much at all... however there was a name I wasn’t familiar with, Bachmann, wonder who they are? So fortunately ordered a class 24 or 25, it arrived and I was impressed (i’m Easily pleased!) with it at the time... so yes the hobby took a step forward round about then, and I then became careful to only aim for the modern detailed Chinese tooled models and that’s the only reason i’m Still here... Today’s newly tooled models are generally better than the new wave of models released in the 2000’s, but not by much...
  6. How disappointing....... All I can suggest that everyone messages Oxford Rail, via their Facebook site, website or the Rep at the show, and express their concern about the lack of colour matching with the Bachmann Scotrail livery on the 47/7 and DBSO’s... I suppose another future option is if a retailer commissioned Hornby to colour match their mk3’s to the Bachmann Scotrail livery...
  7. Enjoy anyway..... at least you have the chance to visit different exhibitions.... down here, not much in the way of clubs....
  8. Dave is communicating updates to his crowd funders direct by email now.... I can understand his reasons, after seeing some of the posts on the threads
  9. Well if they have livery samples on display, hopefully someone can get a comparison picture with a Bachmann Scotrail 47/7 or Mk2f Dbso to see how close (or far off) they are to matching.... I would do it myself, but unfortunately 10,000miles away! Thanks
  10. I take it you would have made use of the Hornby replacement/voucher scheme that was in place at the time?
  11. I spoke with Hattons online message system, and they are contacting Bachmann re when they are getting their allocation of mk2f’s...
  12. I can save you the bother of an email.... they are still to arrive..... that’s the beauty of the live chat function on their website! I’m sure their isn’t any sort of conspiracy or anything and they’ll get their deliveries shortly.....
  13. Eastfield or Inverness blue for me thanks.... Would upgrading to lighting not necessitate a complete new model/tooling? To fit lights, decoder socket and pickups would push the price up considerably. I think the original post was only talking about a re-issue of the existing tooling.
  14. Something else to remember, if my memory serves me right, it was model zone that commissioned the sorting vans from Bachmann and held the rights to the tooling for a couple of years..... So did model zone get it wrong livery wise, which was then compounded with the Bachmann general release a few years later?
  15. Sorry, The stripe should be yellow, not gold.... perhaps it appears more gold on weather beaten/faded examples, but from all the photo’s I’ve just looked at, the brighter yellow colour appears to be closer th the Royal Mails corporate colour scheme. Why can’t Bachmann in their catalogue simply have a tag notifying us of a revised livery instead of springing this on us...
  16. Wonder how the paint samples for the storage vans, that were approved for manufacture, match the released product? If they don’t match, then surely Bachmann can make a claim against the factory? I think John, post #10, hits the nail on the head, as to what’s went wrong...
  17. Very nicely done Andy...... Best wishes to Dennis for a long, prosperous and happy retirement.....
  18. What a lot of people seem to be over looking is the residual value in these models.... Yes, a non DCC Mk2f is about £46/47 each, with a £20 odd mark up for DCC fitted coaches... Yes, the coaches are more expensive, because they are far more detailed, which is what, we, in general terms, the market wanted/demanded from the manufacturer’s. If they are too expensive for some people, thats unfortunate, but Bachmann are not a charity, and have clearly identified that there is a demand for the higher detail models at a higher price point. there are older cheaper models freely available on the second hand market. If Bachmann have got their strategy wrong then they will change over time to maintain their profitability. So, back to my original point, the residual value.... there are not many toys/hobbies, where after a few years of play use, providing you have looked after the coaches, you can sell them on the second hand market and get back a substantial percentage of the original cost. As Mark (Wombatofludham) points out, he’s bought a computer game for a relation for £42 for a relative.... i’m Pretty sure in a few years time, the value of that computer game on the second hand market will be very low.
  19. I think the isssue, originally for me, was that Bachmann never let on that they had replaced their v4 chips with selects, but maintained the price of their loco’s at the higher price point, and didn’t knock the £40 or so off the model to reflect the (at the time) noticeably cheaper price of the selects.
  20. My rake of Intercity TSO, non dcc ones also have the roof issue.... To put this into perspective, I wouldn’t have noticed, like gazwire if someone didn’t point it out, and you have to angle the coach to get the light reflecting at the right angle and search the roof to locate the issue. I don’t have any of the other coaches as yet to check. As for the windows and floor issue, I can’t see them with the naked eye (not saying they are not there), so they are still nice coaches, just a tad expensive.
  21. I hope Bachmann concentrate on something else... I think the Mk3 Coach market is crowded enough with a basic, Hornby model and a more detailed Oxford model...
  22. Would love to see them done, but being realistic, it’s going to be expensive. A class 91 and DVT set is going to be a good bit more expensive than say Hornby’s HST set....
  23. Pete, Check the mk3 coach thread, your answer re the livery is in there in the last couple of posts.... As to the colour of the upholstery, I can’t remember now, but does the tinted windows not make it difficult to discern the colours anyway? Mine should arrive next week down here in the colonies....
  24. Just a quick question for those that have ordered, did your credit card get charged now or is it when the models are posted out? Thanks....
