  1. Bottom line as I see it, if Hornby intimate they are doing new mk4 coaches and DVT, then a large number will defect over to Hornby... can’t see the market being big enough for two manufacturers... I’m pretty sure that the quality/detail of the new Hornby model will suit 95% of future customers....
  2. Hornby, as far as I can see haven’t announced new tooling for mk4 coaches yet... advantage still with Cavalex
  3. Ghee.... that announcement took a while to read! well my New Years resolution to cut back on model railway purchases lasted 6 days!
  4. Charlie, hope you had a nice Christmas and new year.... are you still posting out the preorders? Still not received nor heard anything about my order for two sound ones... cheers andrew
  5. David, The main steel industry in Scotland was gone by 1992 with the closure of the Ravenscraig Steelworks and hot strip mill... I have many fond memories of watching the steel trains in the works, and just wish I’d taken a camera with me to record my memories! The main part of what was left, was a plate mill, which would bring in steel slabs by rail....
  6. Hey Bob, merry Christmas..... your not the first to have this problem! hopefully the link to daveclass47’s video on YouTube explains it better than I ever could...
  7. You mean these things? https://railsofsheffield.com/products/36707/rails-rails-box-oo-gauge-rails-replacement-box
  8. This is the reason I no longer pre order Hornby loco’s... i’d Rather wait a few weeks to see what the model looks like in real life before committing to buying.... saying that I nearly lost out on their Scotrail mk2f’s, i’d Been expecting them in the wrong colours, as per their Scotrail 156’s, which were way off!
  9. Charlie, are you still posting the provincial 156’s out?
  10. I’m assuming you’ve spoken to the retailer and/or manufacturer before posting on here.... so what did they tell you?
  11. Hornby don’t have a great track record in re releasing coaches.... take the Pendolino... i’d Have thought it would have been a staple for modern day modellers... they released the Alston Pendolino set, but no stand alone coaches... it’s been what 4/5 years without the coaches, which are hitting the £60 mark on EBay.... HST swift Mk3 coaches.... they seemed to completely underestimate the TSO’s required, again they sold out within a day or two.... that left the TTS swift HST power cars on the retailers shelves with nothing to run with.... ‘It’s getting close to the point that if you don’t pre-order popular liveries, then there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get them once they are released...
  12. You can still get them if you hunt around.... Rails/Olivia’s.... as to Hornby releasing another batch, i’ll Respectfully disagree with Hilux.... Hornby have nothing to run these coaches with, and Bachmann’s version isn’t far away...
  13. ‘I think you should have specified that it would be an additional £50~70 per coach....! Definitely not interested in sliding doors.... just give me a good quality, detailed, accurate tooling with a good paint job and i’ll Be happy....
  14. I’d be surprised if there were any variations at all....
  15. The OO APT initially had the numbers plus a small buffer to cover for folk dropping out. Then we had all the negativity on the forum, coupled to the PAyPal withdrawing their permission to use their service. Then after the money had been refunded, just over half continued to be crowdfunders in the project. From memory, I think he ended up with less than 200 commitments for the APT, which was the point I realised that i’d Probably never see the the model and my deposit was as good as lost.
  16. Seriously, why are you looking at Hattons website for Bachmann stuff?
  17. ‘I wouldn’t stress about getting a TPE class 68.... don’t go paying silly money on thief bay... Dapol will no doubt release more TPE liveried locos... it’s a simple matter of demand/profits.... i seem to recall they said they would release a model of every class 68 built when they announced their plans to produce the model..... I think there will be 14 TPE class 68’s, so there will be plenty of options for Dapol.
  18. Assume your talking about oxford rail MK3A’s as opposed to Lima or Hornby? Has been covered in detail in the past on the oxford rail threads, also sure i’ve Seem YouTube video’s on the subject as well. If it is oxford rail coaches, then yes, there great for pulling but not pushing.
  19. Thanks for the updates Colin/William.... my credit card company also has the added bonus of using the international transaction as another hurdle if I decide to claim... i’m Waiting with interest to see if anyone actually gets a cc refund...
  20. Because that’s how the returns procedure/system works??? the 3 models are still showing in stock at Rails, so I just don’t see what the issue is... my 90’s, from rails, made it to the other side of the world intact, so they do check them and pack them securely.
  21. Come on Phil, you know the normal everyday rules for consumer rights, behaviour, social etiquette do not apply for railway modellers!
  22. Mark, you our really need to stick with Rails. I’m really surprised that they sent you replacements that were defective... I don’t know if it’s because I’m an international customer, but all my orders from Rails (locos) get checked before being sent (thanks JW). the retailers have a process for notifying and returning defective locos to the manufacturers. I’m sure it’ll be a lot quicker, easier and cheaper than dealing with Bachmann.
  23. Just checked my Emails.... so I received an email on 2nd April 2018, requesting payment via PayPal for the initial 25% payment for the OO APT from DJM....
  24. Lol.... i’m In Oz, love BR blue, a child of the 70’s, there are some buyers here!
