  1. Duraglit wadding carefully used can restore canopies on model aicraft as indeed can toothppaste. might give Brasso a try as that is the constituent of duraglit. Other metal polishes are available
  2. lovely picture great thing to do
  3. Does anyone have any experience of the Cytronex system ( auxiliary electric power) I am thinking of powering my old Sirius.. Thanks in advance
  4. Was you holding your breath there. I often find myself doing that when I run a session, My theory is that the length of a run is governed by the breath holding time of the operator. The puff of relief at the end means nothing stalled fell off or uncoupled save when it was meant to. A lovely layout and a damned good ideas to build as modules. You journey has been an inspiration to me and hopefully many others dealing with small space modelling. Looking forward to more of this. zRobert
  5. very sad . always a quick response to queries and incredibly helpful
  6. I have used this on several coaches. it works but weight is essential and evenly distributed weight at that. about 25 g per axle at least.. on a couple of coaches I used this on two of three axles still with weight and it was OK my most recent experiment involve 1mm axle inside 2mm tube with guitar wire springing and waisted bearings on all three axles 25g over each axle ant the coach ran through 36" turnouts in EM gauge no worries. experiments are now curtailed due to house move and lack of BB kits.9 i think they can still be bought from ye internette thingy.
  7. If Spitfires could glide that well my father would not have spent two years as a POW. His engine packed in midway between Guernsey and Herm and he made it to 100m from Herm it's about 10k from one to the other so he managed about a 5k glide. Admittedly he started off at about 5,000 feet.so pretty much straight down. this was a Seafire V according to hie log book.
  8. There was another episode where Ziva and dinozzo breakfasted on scrambled eggs bacon maple syrup and the works, in France! whilst on the run under cover pretending to be locals.
  9. I think The formula was coat of white lead primer stopped down twice then a coat of white lead with added black oil as top coat.probably varnished . looking at photographs of GE locos it looked anything from almost white to battleship grey ,some locos looked as though they were buffed whitemetal. the train code numbers were yellow and quite large. the black oil was added in drops! the number does not appear to be specific and I dont know if that meant it was black oil paint or black oil ie old oil.( when I worked in a steel mill yonks ago old used oil was called black oil and was supposed to be chucked)
  10. I have used an old fashioned mapping pen with enamels and acrylics. adding a drop or two of lighter fluid to the enamels helps flow and slows drying(as per easiliner instructions) just water added to the acrylics does the same job but Vallejo acrylic thinners ia better.
  11. The common factor being farming work out to large multinational enablers see Serco and hospital cleaning railway maintenance etc. Babcock also have a big stake in educational development and lots of other stuff which has nowt to do with ships.
  12. the one you love the one you shouldn't...
  13. oops that wasn't in the script
  14. I am greatly saddened by the current course of a game(A GAME) which was a huge part of my life for over 50 years as player referee and assessor in more than one country. The fundamental idea of fair competition has mostly vanished. Any concept of a straight put in at the scrum has gone (well dead many years ago in the international game). the ludicrous line out laws almost render it a given for the side putting the ball in. The ruck or maul invariably means you go in with it you come out with it counter rucking is so rare that any point of the ruck has vanished , actually if you have the temerity to try it results in a penalty. As for the tackle and post tackle my words fail me .a perfectly fair tackle results in the tackler being penalised whilst the tackled player can get up and run away if the tackler correctly lets him go. And the idea of the second movement when tackled and scoring has been lost to history.. it a bit of a rant I confess but rugby is a very simple game which is made far too complex by law makers and their motivation is nothing to do with safety far more to do with the spectacle of a game making it much more like rugby league than it was. The future will I predict involve a scrum that is purely decorative a line out that involves a pass to the player of choice and a try merely involving crossing the line any interference by the defending side resulting in a penalty. Rant over Italy are rubbish and Wales have lost their way. As for England , there has to be a problem if you can win a game in which the other side score three tries to your one . allez les bleus
